You know, it's probably no big deal--probably just a cold combined with teething. Lots of holding seems to be the best solution.
If it takes them more than 3 days to start to get better, that's when I'll start wondering if it's something more than a little cold, but in general, the best medicine is lots of Mommy.
I don't usually even give my little ones Tylenol or Advil, because it depresses the immune system and makes their body have to work that much harder to get over the nasty bugs... They have to be REALLY suffering for me to give them any of that stuff, because it generally just prolongs the sickness rather than helping their body fight.
I usually just spend the day holding them, and usually they'll take an extra nap (sleep is the BEST thing to do for the body--it is a GREAT help when fighting infection).
It can get annoying if you need to get anything done around the house and have a baby attached to you, 24/7, but it seems to make them feel better and so, hey, whatever works!

If you are nursing, that's awesome too--your milk is full of antibodies that will help her body fight.
Generally, green goo is bacterial, and yellow goo is viral, so if the green goo keeps up, she may have a bacterial infection that can be helped by antibiotics. Once again, antibiotics DO kill the bad bacteria, but they also kill every single GOOD bacteria in the process, which TOTALLY runs down the immune system... So you only want to do Antibiotics if you HAVE to, and then feed her LOTS of healthy yogurt for a couple months afterward, to try and help her body replenish it's stock of good bacteria.
If it were me, and the child had a cold (but no breathing problems), I'd wait a good week before even
thinking about taking her in anywhere. But that's just me!
Personally, we do antibiotics for things like pnemonia...but for a cold or a little earache, NO WAY. The damage the antibiotic does isn't worth the minor cure.
Hope she gets better soon!
Love,
Molly
