Its best to say no, what example would someone
"gay" bring to kids that need a strong base to help them in decisions in life, hopefully good ones, that wont take them from the narrow path to our Lord.

But of course, if people wish to continue to harass children and drag a Christian organization to the courts continually expressing that a male's right to be sexually attracted to other males over-rides the First Amendment Constitutional Right of Religious expression, I'm sure that will do wonders for the PR of the pro-gay special interest. :sigh:

The goal of some activists is to harass in order to create animosity. It is a way to radicalize gays and grow the movement. Standard Marxist/Leninists tactics. They do not want a "live and let live' agreement reached

So are you talking about scout-leaders? Something about gay scout-leader makes me think Catholic priest..so I'd say it's a wise decision not to let them lead.

That was a joke? If so, it's in pretty poor taste for any number of reasons.

Openly gay people are not allowed to be in the boy scouts. Do you feel gays should be allowed in them? I am trying to find some opinions for either side of the argument.

The Boy Scouts, being a private organization, can refuse any members they so choose. However, given that they are a private organization, they should not be permitted to hold meetings, etc, in any public areas, or recieve funding from the federal government.

Honestly, its their choice. They just can't have their cake and eat it too, as it were.

That is totally disgusting and would be illegal in the UK. Gays are human beings, no better, no worse than straights!

You may wish to keep the racist commentary to yourself and observe that the OP is on sexual orientation and not ethnicity.

and you may wish to support your claim that the post you quoted was racist or else you're guilty of being a libelist and a false witness.

That I'm familiar with, it was a joke because what I really don't get is what we're discussing here. Again, how many little kids out there are gay? I see that their age range goes up to 17, but I never knew anyone over 10-11 still in scouts. It seems rather silly to bar gays, when sexual orientation isn't determined to any significant degree until a later stage of development. So it's very likely that kids that will later in life be gay are still going to be in scouts. Does this mean that when they group up and realize that they are gay they have to turn in their badges?

the way you put it made it sound like you thought that the priests who abused kids were gay.

and the victims werent gay either, that doesnt make a difference at all if a boy gets abused it doesnt mean they are gay or make them become gay.

and i dont really see the joke in it.

Quite, in either context it is wrong!
actually it's not... you see discrimination based on sexual orientation is just as arbitrary as skin color and religion. So his post was a very fair analogy. If you try to take the route that sexual orientation is a choice... then I challenge that religion is also. Is discrimination based on religion acceptable?

Back to the OP - If they receive any type of special funding it should be stripped away... but this goes for tax exempt churches also.

This country has a long way to go before it's a fair secular state.

Yeah, and look what happened.

I thought of something very unkind to say, but I'll bite my tongue on it.

They can discriminate, like others have said, but they shouldn't expect to be treated nicely by an increasingly gay-friendly society.

Its interesting to note that the only people really being accused of discrimination are the Christians. Never mind the fact that Christianity preaches AGAINST homosexuality, everyone else is free to be as bigotted as they choose.

And don't give a rat's rear-end about whether or not this society is gay-friendly. Is that any reason to compromise one's beliefs?

Could it be that Christians are the ones doing most of the discriminating?

Should Mexican immigrants learn to speak English?

I think everyone is guilty of some kind of discrimination.

and yea immigrants should learn English but I also think they should be able to keep their original language and teach it to their kids.

its a big advantage being bilingual at least, and even more of an advantage to be multilingual.
