how do we know that we've done all we can?
didn't Jesus teach
(Mar 6:11) And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear you, when ye depart thence, shake off the dust under your feet for a testimony against them. Verily I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of judgment, than for that city.

should we just preach the word and if it is not accepted ,move on?
are we to keep trying to convince people ,when all they do is argue ,and try to change the word of God into a lie.
what about false teachers ,or those who claim to be in Christ ,but speak not of His word are we to try and correct these then move on? or are we to keep trying to explain.
anyone have any thoughts on this?
God bless.

What a vast subject and a ever present concern for the people of God! Thanks for bringing it up. I am almost positive I will not be able to thuroughly answer your question, due to its depth, but I will give you my thoughts on the matter.

Yes, too often as Christians we are burdened by someone's non-acceptance of the Gospel and to a certain extent that is okay. To be grieved for those that are lsot is a part of being God's elect. You are correct and Jesus was too when he told us to shake the dust form under our feet and move on. That is what we should do, because when we show our frustration we allow a gap for pride in our own faith and this can be a stumbling block, not only for believers but for the very peopel you are trying to lead to Christ.

As for arguing with people. I suppose or assume you are referring perhaps to some one here that argue certain issues? Well if that be the case then I feel as though Christian debate is healthy for personal growth in one's own belief's. This can hender some relationships because some do not do their own studying, but instead piggyback on the knowledge of others and dig a hole in which their beliefs become built upon their faith in man instead of God.

As for false teachers. The Bible foretells of times when false teachers will be prevalent. in fact, they are always present. It is our duty as Christian brothers and sisters to bring the falsities up to the teacher and show them their errors Biblically with perhaps a educated individual that knows the subject at hand quite well. If they do not listen to you and continue in their ways then do your best to spread the truth among the false teachers followers and make it known that what they spread is NOT the truth, but instead a distorted message.

I hope I have shed somewhat of a light on the things we do and will continue to face as Christians and have given an accurate precedure in what we should do. Thanks and God bless.

thanks fomwatts,
should we continue to debate with non believers ,should we be drawn into a debate at all with anyone ,we have the word of God and yes someone may have a better understanding than us at some parts ,but we are to always make sure it is the word of God ,and if we know we speak of that, and they don't are we to carry on debating.after we shown them the word and they refuse it.
if someone offers me their interperatation on something i'm not sure on ,shouldn't i instead of debating this try and actually see if it's true ,and if i'm still not sure ask them the questions politely that i still have on the subject ,and maybe sometimes both could be open to a better understanding.
Pro 9:9 Give instruction to a wiseman, and he will be yet wiser: teach a just man, and he will increase in learning.

thanks again God bless.

It takes common sense to know if a person is open to the Gospel. If they ask questions, then we must give answers with patience and love. If they slam the door, then it's move on time. Only the Holy Spirit can draw a man to God - we plant and water, but God gives the increase.

1 Peter 3:15 But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:

Colossians 4:6 Let your speech be alway with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man.

1 Corinthians 3:7 So then neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase.

2 Timothy 2:24 And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient,
25 In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;
26 And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.

great post raphe ,i'm not allowed to give you any more rep points ,must have given you some before.
how do we know when they don't want to learn ,for some only try to disprove God.
but i have the feeling some ,try to disprove but are half open to learning at the same time ,if you know what i mean ,a small part of them does believe or wants to ,and by trying to prove it wrong with questions their also trying to prove it right.
i don't know just some thoughts ,what i'm saying is how do we know to walk away ,is there really no hope for someone ,have you really done all you could ,have you really explained things the best you could ,have you really tried everyway to reach them?
anyway ,thanks.
God bless.
