  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Absolutely.

We know a family at our church whose dog became suddenly ill and they took her to an emergency hospital, where she got a guarded prognosis. The children in the family, who have been taught to be "prayer warriors," prayed really heavy on their beloved dog, and within days she was well again, and has had no problems since. We heard this story from the "Mom" who was actually telling it to us because she had felt somewhat convicted by the earnest faith her children showed by instantly praying in full confidence over their pet, when she herself had not yet done so. She was telling us how amazing it was for the Holy Spirit to work so wonderfully through her own children in teaching faith and true wisdom. And then, for there to be a little miracle and their prayers to be answered....Hallelujah to Our King! God is so good!

We include our dog in our prayers every night...praying both for her, and in thanks for her. I also pray for all the animals of the world.
God did, after all, leave them in our care, so it's only natural we pray for them! :)

God bless!

I heard a true story about this dog that got hit by a car and his owner called the pastor, who came in and prayed for the dog, which in turn's bones started to reform before their eyes.

I don't think animals have souls though. [BIBLE]Ps 49:20 "A man who is in honor, yet does not understand, is like the beasts that perish." [/BIBLE]

As much as we would like it to be true animals do not have souls.

I can not think of anyplace in the bible that says anything about praying for animals but I know we are to care for them.

Genesis 1:26 Then God said, "Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth."

To me this means I need to pray so I can make the right decisions in caring for the earth and the creatures that God has intrusted to me.

I thoroughly believe the Bible gives us more than enough evidence that not only do animals have souls, but we'll see 'em with us in eternity. Should we pray for them? Of course! Even if we don't believe in their souls, I think we should be including God in every aspect of our life and cares, praying for all things, big & small.

Blessings,

I am someone who loves animals so want to know what others think about this..We know God loves all creatures...but should we pray for animals? Is there some place in the bible which tells us to do so? :)
We should pray about everything but especially for our families and pets.

Absolutely! Phillippians 4:6 says " 6Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. " It does not say: 6Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, except animals, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.

JOB 12:7-10

You have only to ask the cattle, for them to instruct you, and the birds of the sky, for them to inform you. The creeping things of earth will give you lessons, and the fish of the sea provide you an explanation: there is not one such creature but will know that the hand of God has arranged things like this! In his hand is the soul of every living thing and the breath of every human being!

PROVERBS 12:10

A righteous man cares for the needs of his animal

ECCLESIASTES 3:19-21

Man's fate is like that of the animals; the same fate awaits them both: As one dies, so dies the other. All have the same breath, man has no advantage over the animal. Everything is meaningless. All go to the same place; all come from dust and to dust all return. Who knows if the spirit of man rises upward and if the spirit of the animal goes down into the earth?

LUKE 12:6

Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? And not one of them is forgotten before God.

There are even more verses, but with this I say yes.
