Should we call it by its proper name or don't it matter??

How do we term this thing ??

a) When we are Baptised in the Holy Spirit, with the evidence of new tongues......

Do we now have the GIFT of TONGUES or are we simply BAPTISED IN THE SPIRIT...with our prayer language being part of this.

In other words, are their 2 types of tongues ???????????:D

Although this is debated, one can be baptised in the Holy Spirit without yet having spoken in other tongues.

A gift of tongues may be a particular message in tongues to deliver to a congregation at a particular time. It also may be the ability to speak an unlearned foreign language fluently, on the foreign mission field for example.

You could still call the ability to pray in tongues a gift of tongues, but the term "gift of tongues" may refer to something other than a language used in private prayer.

Baptizing in Holy Spirit, means that is the evidence of being delivered from the fleshly desires and we are open to accepting the Gifts of Spirit. And no there are not two tongues. Speaking in tongues is one of the Gifts mentioned in the Bible and God has the power to empower us and fill us with that Gift if we wish to.

One "type" of tongues. Many functions deemed by the will of the Spirit.

There are three types listed in scripture,..

-The tongue spoken from GOD that is understandable by others around you who speak a different language than you do. (Acts 2)

-The "speaking in mysteries" or the "tongue of Angels" which would be our personal prayer language. (1Cor 14:2)

-The supernatural prophetic tongue spoken by The Holy Spirit in services to the body of Christ. This particular tongue requires an supernatural interpretation also. (1Cor 14:15-16)

There are a lot of folks who have a myriad of ideas concerning the gifts, it is best to seek out information from those who can testify from personal experience. I have two of the experiences of this gift, the speaking in diverse tongues and the prayer tongue.

I did a study on this area of Speaking In Tongues. I extract relevant information for you. SPEAKING IN TONGUES IS AN EVIDENCE THAT YOU HAVE BEEN BAPTISED IN THE HOLY SPIRIT. IT IS ONE OF THE 9 GIFTS OF THE HOLY SPIRIT.
What Are The Gifts Of The Holy Spirit?

1 Corinthians 12:7-11 Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good. To one there is given through the Spirit the message of wisdom, to another the message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit, to another faith by the same spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit, to another miraculous powers, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in different kinds of tongues, and to still another the interpretation of tongues. All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and he gives them to each one, just as he determines.

9. Interpretation of tongues

What Kind Of Tongues Are There? Different Types Of Tongues.

1. Tongues that constitute speaking in foreign languages that is understood by those who listened.
Acts 2:3-6 They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them……when they heard this sound, a crowd came together in bewilderment, because each one heard them speaking in his own language.

2. Tongues that constitute speaking to God and no one can understand.
Isaiah 28:11 Very well then, with foreign lips and strange tongues
God will speak to this people…

1 Corinthians 14:2 For anyone who speaks in a tongue (an unknown language) does not speak to men but to God. Indeed, no one understands him; he utters mysteries with his spirit.

3. Tongues that constitute bringing a word to the church with an interpretation of what the tongue is saying to edify[1] and build up the church.
1 Corinthians 14:5 I would like every one of you to speak in tongues but I would rather have you prophesy. He who prophesies is greater than one who speaks in tongues unless he interprets, so that the church may be edified.
1 Corinthians 14:12-13 So it is with you. Since you are eager to have spiritual gifts, try to excel in gifts that build up the church. For this reason anyone who speaks in a tongue should pray that he may interpret what he says.
