Body odour and what to do about it varies, depending on your culture. Here in Iraq and I guess the Ugandans, they don't wear deoderant. They bathe, but no deoderant, so they stink when they sweat. That's just their culture. So no, it shouldn't be a public offense for someone stinking on public transportation. Again, they are paying for the service as well, so if you don't like it, find another car to get on.

I've been thinking about starting a similar thread for those that yap loudly on their cell phones while commuting on the rail. Listening to a loud one-sided conversation is annoying. They should at least put the phone on speaker so we can all hear the whole conversation and be able to pipe in.

Food smell is just as bad. What are some folk thinking when they bring a bag of McD's to munch on while on the train? It smells nasty.

I used to use the tube every day. To get an idea of the train's layout on the line I used I have posted a picture: (note the position of the armrests)

Now I'm about 6'3 or something and have quite broad shoulders, so when I sit down, I tend to put my arms on the rest if free, as it's the only way I can really get comfortable. Now imagine my surprise when some weazle would sit next to me and you could literally feel them attempt to push your arm off the arm rest (men and women)! You can imagine how angry that can make a person. Being the stubborn person I am I would never give in, but the point is, THESE PEOPLE SHOULD BE LOCKED UP! I don't think it is an exaggeration to say, this is a form of assault, and it happens every day, on probably every train! It is just not on!

Dawg! Word! I've been on the lightrail at rush hour with some guy fighting with his girlfriend. We all sad around looking at each other, and finally someone said, "don't worry - we going into a tunnel soon."

And people who insist on putting their bag or purse on the next seat at rush hour. I told a woman I wanted to sit, and she said, "my purse is their." I said, "I know, but your purse didn't pay fare." She refused to move it, and I said, "You can either move your purse, or I will move it for you."

Yes, these people are evil, pure evil! Rush hour as well *shakes head in disgust*

But I love garlic please don't jail me if I have the lingering smell of my kitchen on me-- be nice and I'll give you a bottle of true blood.

Seriously cell phone conversations bug me more than the smells of public transportation, well loud conversations regardless of if they are on the phone are to the person next to them. WHY do people insist on sharing all their personal drama and then get mad when you look at them. My car died in July and I'm not buying a new one until we get the house financed so I'm back on the bus most of the time... rather than just for my commute... I forgot about the need people have to share their personal lives with everyone ....

Notice that all the agnostics and Atheists are usually critical/condescending towards the stinkers, but all the Christians are more forgiving of them.
Gotta tell you something...

It tells you that the several people posting on this thread have different pet peeves when it comes to public transportation.
