A change to Prog FSG's is being proposed right now. This change would essentially not allow trads to debate in here. Do you support an alteration to the FSG's that would do this and do you feel Trad debate should be locked out of our area?

Please place your vote in this poll and then post your reasons for why you feel the way you do here:

http://christianforums.com/t6864947&page=21

That is where you will find the discussion on this matter being conducted. Please don't post your comments here, as the Administration who are monitoring that thread will not see them.

Once we have all the votes in I can post the results in that thread.

This poll is limited to Prog Adventists only.

I think trads should not be allowed to debate in here. It only causes flames, baiting, and spite reporting in the long run, and some progs are targeted in here because it is the only place where they can nail them.

Is mva allowed to vote in here anyway? I was not under the impression he was a progressive but I could be wrong.

He's not. Neither is capnator. If non-Progressives vote, their votes will not be counted.

I'm all for open and free discussion.

I may be guilty of some flaming, but I know that I don't spite report people plain and simple. I am not saying I haven't reported anyone, but it has certainly been a long time since I have.

I personally like discussing with everyone here I hope that you do not close this forum to progs only.

This poll has been edited---

At the request of Icedragon, and with the permission of an Admin, I have removed Icedragon's "no" vote and replaced it with a "yes" vote.

Icedragon's name, however, will still appear in the "no" column (no way to edit that by a mod).

Thanks for understanding, folks.

Sophia, could you tell us how you decided on who is Progresive or non-Progressive, I thought that was up to the individual....?

It's a complicated thing. One part of it might be "are you accepted by the traditionals here?".

They have identified themselves as such by their posts.

But Sophia, its really not left up for you to decide, and that is just your opinion of their posts. It says "who may question, have newer interpretations of, or do not hold to the official 28 beliefs" leaving it up to the individual and his/her personal beliefs.....

Of course it's up to them and their personal beliefs, but they reveal those in their posts. If you don't think so, ask people yourself if they agree with all 28 FBs. I noticed that mva posted today that he is a Traditional:

Only self-identified Progressives will have their votes counted in this poll. And only those who identify themselves as either Progs or Trads will be allowed to debate in their respective sub-forums if both of those areas end up being closed to debate by non-members.

So as much as you don't like it, the revised FSGs will likely require labeling. You as mods will have to ask people about their own affiliations if you can't tell by their posts, and you will have to believe what they tell you. It's part of the job.

OK, self-identified Progressives is different, but I dont think that allows anyone else to identify other members one way or the other. It should always be the individual himself, other member's opinions are not the criteria and do not constitute closure....

As I said, ask them yourself then.

Maybe Sophia would like to provide posts so that we know who everyone is? ;)

As I said before I missed the last line of Night's original post.

They have identified themselves as such by their posts.

How is it that this identification works in the Tradition Sub-forum yet could not work in the Progressive Sub- forum?

This poll is limited to Prog Adventists only.

Some people are not seeing this disclaimer at the end of my OP. I have bolded it in red.

Anyone who is a non-ProgSDA please refrain from voting. That includes Formers and Trads.

The poll is only open to Prog SDA's still in the church.

I am with you on this one RC... the system of labeling is arbitrary and impractical, and this is why I say the labeling of 'trad' and 'prog' should be done away with and people learn to get along, plain and simple...
