  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I have a few questions for all of you guys out there.

What would you consider sexual harrasment? What do you think schools should do to prevent it? Would you let it go on in your child's school? And what can be done to educate children about it?

I'll share part of my story to let you understand why Im asking this. I've always had a big problem in school, Starting in 8th grade several nasty rumors were started about me, including one about a hairbrush. I was harassed on a daily basis, and finally I decided to press charges on all the students, and the teachers that were involved (Yes the teachers were actually engaging in it.) By 9th grade the rumors escalated, and it went from rumors to people adding on and calling me a lesbian and a dike and spreading more rumors. After thanksgiving I got my hair cut short, which made the rumors short. Again we spent another year filing reports on students and teachers, and even had meetings with the district. And to this day- to a degree, the harrasment hasnt stopped. For the most part Ive learned to deal with it. But I want to know what could be done to prevent it for others in the future, and what might be different ways of handling situations like mine.

Thanks Very Much For Your Comments and Opinions!

Sex and school:

All fundamantal education should be finished by the sixth grade, at which point all children should be ready for secondary which has little or no fundamentals taught. If the child can't do long division by sixth grade it must remain there until it can or until it's 18 and can be forced to join the Armed Forces where the training can be forced.

Upon reaching secondary school males and females should be separated and not re-integrated until they are 18. This will relieve vast amounts of undue stress from both sexes during a time when they can't really take it. Legalised prostitution should be made available to anyone who has passed puberty based on grades. Clothing and meals should also be doled out based on grades. School should have no extracurricular activities that do not adhere very specifically to the higher maths, sciences, literature and crafts, and these should be based entirely on performance. No sports, no theology, no arts or music. Let the little cretins pay for that stuff on their own time and with their parent's cash.

Anyone recieving an F in two semesters of the same class is shipped to a military academy and beaten until they are old enough to join the armed forces.

Anyone caught not using a sanctioned prostitute for sexual activity will recieve the above treatment.

The parents of a child sent to military school will be forced to joined the armed forces for a period not to exceed their child's time in the military academy and the armed forces.

It would work.

Is this for men only? I just wanted to say that schools allow kids to get away with too much considering it part of a child's development to either call names or put up with name calling. I disagree--I think respect should be taught for others from early on up in school. My main problem with school was being treated like the outsider and it hurt me really bad. And it caused some people to commit suicide that I know of.

There are schools around the country who have started programs that police bullying and they have worked for them. I suggest all schools try their program.

And always remember there is really nothing wrong you personally, it's really their problem with accepting people who are different. Teachers who engage in this behavior are not much more mature than the people who do it and to me this name calling sounds like the maturity of five year olds. People have said that I need to change things about myself to be able to tolerate name calling. I don't think it should be that way. I believe in prevention as I mentioned above--the school should take the steps to curb it in the first place or at least do something about it when it is reported, such as a punishment. Anyway, that's my two cents worth.

I like some of your thoughts, however some do seem a bit harsh, and I doubt our government would enforce it.

The only way to prevent such behavior is to kill people before they can exhibit it. This does not seem to be an entirely practical solution, however.

:D
Yeah... well I doubt taking the blood of someone into your hands would do much for you either.....

Humans have not progressed enough to handle their base instincts yet. It'll be a murky, icky world until we start to think critically.

Can you say baseball bat? I knew you could...

Sorry, but the testosterone poisoning comes to the fore occasionally.

Taking your original post at face value I would say you haven't managed to handle your base instincts either.
