Should I stop watching certain YouTubers?

So this is something that has been on my mind for quite a few days. I watch YouTube, as I assume most of you do, to "rewind" and relax. However, I have been recently questioning if I should stop watching certain YouTubers, most notably Jacksepticeye and the Game Grumps. Now for those of you that know of these YouTubers, you probably understand my conundrum. For those of you who haven't heard of these YouTubers or don't watch YouTube at all, these two channels are mainly gaming channels, who both cuss quite a bit as well as make a lot of sex jokes. They both say "God" in vain a lot, but that has never been a problem for me, as I always say "gosh" and other substitutes. In short, should I stop watching these clearly unChristian YouTubers because they might be having a bad effect on my spiritual life?

I should also say that I do not watch these channels "religiously". When it is time to go to church on Sunday, I stop watching whatever video I am watching and go, as well as continuing to pray to God and not these Internet personalities.

Sins are obvious and mentioned in the bible but weights vary. Some people can handle certain things and others can't. If something is having a bad effect on your spiritual life even if it's not a sin lets say then it's a weight that's holding you back and that must be laid aside so yes unsubscribe from them.

I listen to a young youtuber yapa 238 and he had to leave videogames for example cause it was getting to him, now with you it's just the youtubers but still just bringing it up.

If it is opposed to God's Word, you have zero right to be feeding on this.

Now that you know it's not right, the real question is.....What are you going to do about it?

You're going to find in life there's lots of things you just can't get away from. Some friends might make inappropriate jokes on occasion, movies might have a little bit of swearing in it, so on so forth. We live in a fallen world.

Point is if you find yourself laughing at these inappropriate jokes, using God's name in vain and of course beginning to reflect these traits in your daily behavior, then yes, it's time to close the door on these things.

I used to love GameGrumps, it's just pure fun entertainment. It's not like all they make is sex jokes, but they can be pretty observational towards the games they're tearing apart. As long as there's not a frequent basis where they bash God and do worse types of humor than crudeness, then I think you're all fine.

I do better when not exposed to negative influences. Lately I've had to even turn off politics, which I love, because it's such a downer.

If you find it's affecting you, then yes! Turn it off. Find new YouTubers. I follow some fun religious ones. Some end of times ones. Amazing Prophecies is one.

yeah, I personally would follow the promptings of the Holy Spirit and go with your convictions about it. If you want a Christian channel recommendation, I highly suggest checking out 'Sam & Nia'. They're a Christian family- pretty fun to watch.

Substituting....The thing is, it's still taking the Lord's name in vain.
examples:
"Gosh" is a euphemism for God.
"Jeez" is a euphemism for Jesus.

Taking the Lord's name in vain doesn't just apply to misuse of God's name...
A believer living contrary to scripture (ex: shacking up), that is also taking the
Lord's name in vain.
Like, if you're singing... "Oh How I Love Jesus" but you're holding a grudge against your spouse or a relative...that is also taking the Lord's name in vain.
In plain speech: "Your walk and your talk" should be in agreement, not in opposition.

Are they having a bad effect on your spiritual life? Are you replaying the dirty language in your head and enjoying it? If so, you may need to back off for a while.

I like watching Boogie2988 sometimes myself. I backed off a bit for similar reasons, but I checked back on his channel last night. If I hadn't, I wouldn't have found out he's got gastric bypass surgery coming up in just about a week, and while he does not appear to be a believer himself, he is soliciting prayers from people that pray. So I'm glad I found that out.

I've been watching youtube for a LONG time. About 75% of the youtubers I used to watch I have unsubbed from mainly because of their language or ability to always make anti-christian remarks. Last year I removed Markiplier because he was always saying Gods name in vain. And another youtuber would make jokes about Jesus and sex. Cut him out of my subscriptions list too.

Whats important to remember is you need to figure out what you need to do based on how you feel. On what the Holy Spirit is telling you. Not what others say they do and think you should do. There are people on here who seem to watch no tv, no movies, no games, no internet...nothing.

I mean thats great of course, I'm sure it really helps ones walk. But it doesn't mean everyone has to do or should do it. My feeling is take things out of your life that are affecting you. In my case I stated I got rid of Markiplier. I found myself swearing ALOT after watching him day after day. I also cut out CaptainSparkalz. I think hes LGBT, but that aside he isn't to bad with the swearing but none the less h

I'm subbed to Jacksepticeye also and while he does swear a bit to much, I mainly dislike when I hear him takes Gods name in vain. But he did mention on some other social media page that he was trying to not use those words since they would offend some people. I also love SeaNanners and while he doesn't really swear much, sometimes he can make some sexual jokes that I don't really want to hear.

I've been debating unsubbing from him too. Time will tell. If you want some cleaner choices try MattShea or Mr Sark. They do swear sometimes but hes WAY cleaner then Jack. Or if you want no swearing watch The Bowlingotter Show. Its a couple in their late 20s, they arne't christian but they don't like profanity in their videos. I never have to worry about swearing or crude language.

Another idea is Good Mythical Morning. They don't swear at all. Then there is DamienFate, Glove and Boots. If you want more non game related there is the PBS channels on youtube. Smarter Every Day (hes a christian). Slomo Guys. I've got a whole list. Most of my channels I sub to our educational stuff that is fun to watch.
