I disagree entirely. I have no respect for other religions that have been proven to me to be utterly false.

How has any religion been proven to you to be utterly false or for that matter true in the case of Christianity?

They will not accomplish anything more than god will allow them to accomplish.

Me? I would somehow organize a bigger event at my church that evening. Try free food and live worship music(if financialy possible). Everyone loves free meals.

I would also pray very hard for those that do witness these ungodly rituals.

I did a lot of research into a good deal of other religions, which is still an ongoing process even though I know to high degree of certainty it won't be for the sake of learning truth from them now. When I had gotten to a certain point it struck me as obvious that Christianity was the only cohesive religion with the world we live in, and this has been evident and proven to me time and time again. :)

There are lessons to be learned from every religion, regardless or whether or not it's actually correct in its theological tenets. You'll miss out on much if you refuse to find the truth in those views that disagree with your own.

What is there to miss out on?

I can't answer that for you, anymore than I could tell you why you believe in Christ. All I can tell you is that in my (admittedly short) lifetime, I've learned more about God and his relationship with man from discussion with people of differing beliefs than I have from fellow Christians.

Sorry but I'm not very much into relativism, just the gospel. The church is already a mess from philosophies of the world crawling into the church. The bible it's self is infinite in treasures, what is any other religion going to teach me that I could possibly need?

Who said anything about relativism? And as for the Bible's treasures being infinite, impossible. Innumerable, yes, and of immeasurable spiritual value, but not infinite.

You don't have to say it, you implied it. Hey you want to see what the world values and apply it to your life, obviously Chrit's teachings aren't enough.

Actually it is very possible, since we're discussing an infite God. I haven't met one pastor that says " I have learned everything I need to know about God." Infact many have said " there is always more to learn about God's glory."

I just found out that the town I live in is having some kind of pagan/witch/whatever gathering in late September and I keep feeling like I should be doing something about this. They are having it in a public park, have invited the local media and are just flaunting their godlessness in everyone's faces. Of course everyone is invited. Should I just ignore it and go about my business or should I stand up and protest this "event?" A few friends and I have been talking about going to witness to these people but we have no idea how to talk about God and Jesus to them or even the best way to start. I want to do more than just hold up signs, I want to be more "hands on" with this. It just feels like God is telling me this is the path He wants me to take. Any advice? Has anyone ever seen one of these gatherings and been able to talk to the people there?
If this is sponsored in any way by the village, then I get a lawyer and sue them.

Think about it. Suppose you town has sponsored something that was Christian? The ACLU would be all over them. In my area, an atheist has sued a town for having a cross on the water-tower. Atheist always cry out separation of church and state. Well, that goes for this situation, too. To allow for pagan rituals and not to allow something Christian is to discriminate against Christian.

The very least, you should protest your right to have a Christian event to counterbalance the pagan event.

I would recommend to call the Thomas More Society. They take up cases pro-bono for Christians.

I've had far different experiences, it would seem. I spend a lot of time reading about other religions just as much as I spend talking to the people around me. I know a lot of people of varied faiths, and I've yet to find any who have any insight into God outside of Christianity. Doesn't mean I don't still enjoy discussing things with the people that I do know, or reading about the religions they belong to, but it's no replacement for good, solid, doctrinal Christianity. ;)

Yes, there is always more to learn about God, but the Bible isn't God. While what it does tell us of God may be true, it can't contain even the tiniest fraction of God's totality.

And no, I never implied it either, not intentionally at least. The fact that I'm willing to hear out and glean truth from the words of my neighbors regardless of their religious beliefs doesn't in anyway suggest that I don't believe in an absolute truth. That said, I also don't think that I truly know what the absolute truth is. At best, I and everyone else know only a fraction of it. That's why I feel it so important that we listen to each other. If we're truly concerned about finding the truth, that is.

I couldn't disagree more.

MikeMcK hit it dead on when he pointed out that this is a spiritual battle and not a political one. These people don't need lawyers. They need Jesus.

Besides, if the ACLU is wrong when they do it to Christians, then wouldn't you be just as wrong doing it to pagans?

What makes you think that? (I will say state funds shouldn't be used to pay for religious things Christian or otherwise) You are aware they (the ACLU) have fought for many Christians to be allowed to preach, right?

The whole point and purpose of neo-paganism is to somehow be "spiritual" without having to be Christian. I have yet to find a pagan who actually believes in a "horned god" or a "goddess", it's simply a means of proclaiming "I'm not a Christian, so there!" It isn't a religion so much as it is a role-playing game gone amok.

And I'm supposed to respect that? Fat chance.

However, they are still lost souls looking for answers and need our prayers, as well.
