I'm thinking about getting a box set with all the books in The Chronicles of Narnia in it. I just wonder if they're written for a younger audience, I mean I remember my mom reading one or two of them to me in elementary school. Has anyone read them recently? And if so what did you think? I did read the Hobbit and the three Lord of the Rings books not too long ago, and enjoyed those. I thought that since I liked the Lord of the Rings I might like The Chronicles of Narnia.

Yeah, I think they're good for any age group. I find the style a little stiff and old-fashioned at first, but they're remarkably well-crafted. Actually, you might look at some of Lewis's fiction for adults, like Till We Have Faces or the Space trilogy, as well.

I never read them growing up. When I was in grade 10 or 11 my good friend and I decided to read through the whole series together. We read each book separately and talked about it. It was a wonderful experience. Many of the stories illustrated spiritual biblical truths in a way that really encouraged me my walk.

My dad used to read to my brother and I when we were younger. We ended up having him read us the whole Chronicles of Narnia series like 5 times. We would read it then go on to another book, then he would ask what book we wanted to do next and we would be like "Lets do Chronicles of Narnia again!!"

I've read them and I'm on the Last Battle right now. If you don't buy them borrow them to read before the movies come out.
These books are so full of awesome parallels that you don't get when you are a kid and you continue to relate to as you get older... They are very enjoyable. Buy them, read them, keep them for when you are older to read them again, keep them longer so you can read them to your kids if you have any.

The Chronicles of Narnia are wonderful!!! Definitely buy them! You won't regret it at all. I read them when I was a kid a couple times, and then I reread them last year and was amazed at all the hidden meanings and stuff in them that just go over your head when you're little. I want to read them again, but they're currently packed away. :( Maybe I'll get them out of the library....

I've never read any of them either, but I think I will after hearing about the movie and seeing the posts here.

They're making a movie out of it?

I remember seeing the animated movie in Disney and later on they made a live-action series on it. :)

I remember reading about the kid in the book eating Turkish Delight and thinking to myself, "Wow... this "Turkish Delight" stuff sounds delicious!" (I was 8 yrs old).

Not long after, I was in a store and I saw some and bought it. Big mistake. I'm not a big fan of Turkish Delight. I think I nicknamed it Turkish Disgust after that experience.
