So if you're into some good ol' country music, you've probably heard the song "If Heaven Ain't Alot Like Dixie" by Hank Williams Jr.
I think the music is simply enchanting but his have some verses that, well... seem wrong.

"If Heaven ain't a lot like Dixie
I don't wanna go.
If Heaven ain't a lot like Dixie
I'd just as soon stay home."

Is it okay to be singing this or not? My gut (Is that the Holy Spirit?) tells me "its not okay".

I do like some country. The only Hank Williams Jr. song I know well is "Whiskey Bent and Hell Bound." As you know, he bemoans his own weakness in drinking and chasing strange women in the song. Maybe he thinks Dixie is heaven since he gets to fish and hunt in Dixie while the rest of South toils away at work.

Given what you described, I'd vote against it. The only way that I could say that it's OK with conviction is that if I was equally if not more convicted that Heaven will be a lot like Dixie. But I have to allow for God making it immeasurably better than Dixie. Besides, looking at the entire lyrics of the song, he doesn't progress to a stance that is closer to God at all.

It's kind of insulting to Heaven and to our Heavenly Father Who made a wonderful home for us. Heaven is no way like Dixie, of course. It is infinitely better. No, I don't think that's a good song to sing. Our words are so important. The Almighty made the universe with His spoken word and we are made in His image and likeness. Sing and speak what is truly edifying. I've lived in Dixie. It's nice, okay. No way I'd miss Heaven and say "Well, I'd rather have another slice of Dixie instead."

Try this one...

Take my life, and let it be
Consecrated, Lord, to Thee;
Take my moments and my days,
Let them flow in ceaseless praise,
Let them flow in ceaseless praise.

Take my hands, and let them move
At the impulse of Thy love;
Take my feet and let them be
Swift and beautiful for Thee,
Swift and beautiful for Thee.

Take my voice, and let me sing
Always, only, for my King;
Take my lips, and let them be
Filled with messages from Thee,
Filled with messages from Thee.

Take my silver and my gold;
Not a mite would I withhold;
Take my intellect, and use
Every power as Thou shalt choose,
Every power as Thou shalt choose.

Take my will, and make it Thine;
It shall be no longer mine.
Take my heart; it is Thine own;
It shall be Thy royal throne,
It shall be Thy royal throne.

Take my love; my Lord, I pour
At Thy feet its treasure-store.
Take myself, and I will be
Ever, only, all for Thee,
Ever, only, all for Thee

Always wondered why the bible encouraged singing, but it may well be for the achieved state of mind alone. God enjoys a cheerful soul (2 Corinthians 9:7) for many reasons. Only consider if it stumbles those you associate with (1 Corinthians 8:13).
