Should Christians play video games?

The posts in this thread keep getting better.

Nothing like good old judgement for playing video games.

I remember back in the day when people said listening to the Beatles made you go to hell.

I still don't understand why people here even judge others for stuff like this? I mean, God already said that how we judge others, that is the measure that God will judge us on. So I guess if you want to keep judging others on playing video games, then you must live a pretty high and mighty lifestyle.

Note to Yuber: Just ignore them, they are probably bored and want to argue or just trolling.

From what YOU SAID, you are making a claim that video games are more important and that you don't want give them up for anyone. This is turning a worldly object into an idol because you are putting it first. None of us have said you are going to hell for playing them, but when you make it an idol you are breaking one of the commandments. You can turn practically anything into an idol so were not specifically talking about video games here. Were talking about turning things into idols.

You can play video games all you want, as long as it's not your first priority, and as long as you put God first. If your not willing to put them last and spend more time with God then your telling God that you care more about games then him. He does not like that one bit. So if you continue to keep games an idol in your life i don't think the result is going to be good.

If you want to be a follower of Jesus you have to be willing to lose anything. No matter the cost. YOU SAID in that post that YOU ARE NOT WILLING TO GIVE THEM UP. So it concerns me when you say because you are not showing that you want follow Jesus.

SO ALL WE HAVE BEEN DOING is trying to show you by GOD'S rules that making worldly things an idol instead of putting God first, you are breaking one of the commandments. If you don't repent of having false idols you will not inherit the kingdom of heaven. That is all were saying.

So answer this question. Are you willing to make games your last priority in your life and put God first? If not, then you truly don't want to follow Jesus and you are deceiving yourself. If you are not putting games first and putting God ultimately first then you are fine. We are concerned for you because we don't want you to continue in this act. So were trying to warn you that you are making a false idol by your claim. If you refuse to accept this, then you will be judged along with everyone else who habitually lives in sin.

You should learn to read. None of us have said anyone is going to hell for playing video games. Read a little deeper and you'll find that were talking about making worldly objects false idols. Which is something he claimed by saying he is not willing to give them up for anyone.

All i asked for was people opinions on this topic my goal is not to condemn or judge people or enter into arguments, i'm not trying to say i'm perfect and live a mighty lifestyle i make mistakes like anyone else. My opinion was that i don't think playing violent video games is right in God's eyes and your opinion is that it doesn't matter that's all that this had to come down too. If this thread is causing that much strife and controversy then i would prefer if it was closed.

Dude no harm done. If I took stuff here seriously I would have had a stroke by now.

Though I am like twice your age and I can see your young vigor to do right. Truth is there is bad stuff in everything, not just video games. My hockey team is called the "Devils". My sports bar has wings called "Fire Hell something". Even my school that I grew up in didnt let me talk about God.

The world is a sick place and almost everything is corrupt. But if you are a strong Christian and use good judgement when needed, it becomes a lot more tolerable.

But this video games and some post talking about peoples "eternal judgement", like that to me feels wrong.

personally i find nothing wrong with them games but i guess if you place it before god then it would be a sin. i love games and i play halo4 and minecraft.. those 2 games are addicting so i should really becareful with them and try to keep a closer relationship with god then those games. yes i play on the 360
