  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Should Christians interact with Gays at all?

Which university will they be attending, as a matter of interest? As far as I know, there are no good universities that do not offer a liberal education.

It won't be Oral Roberts U I can assure you of that. Other than that, I don't really want to talk about my kids too much here. But their college is already taken care of. As long as it's not some whack-job leftist U, or a televangelist founded school, they can pick from many. And believe me, they will more than qualify for them.

One of your next 20 descendants will be homosexual.

I come from a Catholic-based clan and not a one yet. DNA will keep it that way.
The rest of your post simply reinforces the picture you present of yourself: you hate homosexuality, but you don't understand it or know the first thing about it, because you don't want to understand it.

I have proven many times, that I know it better than most of the rabble rousers here. How many youth GLBT's know the first thing about the Mattachine Society, or "that night" at the Stonewall Inn? Sir, I know the Gay Community and Gay Culture all too well.

So you will lose your battle against it.

Impossible. What is happeing was prophesied to be happening. The debauchery of the world is not the fault of Christians. Greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world.

Nothing pun intended there at all.

Read a life of Turing. You might come to understand something about the Gay Rights movement.

I have studied Gay activism and have more than proven my worth their.

You people are fond of quoting the fact that a photographer was forced to photograph a gay wedding, aginst his conscience.

No rather, what we are fond of reporting is gay activists forcing the celebration of gay culture on people that they know will never endorse it.

If you support the right of that photographer to refuse to do that, then no doubt you support the right of the gay surgeon to refuse to treat you.

I'm sure the second best surgeon will be just fine. There are probably many great surgeons in the top twelve. And since I know a few devout Christian surgeons, I'll be OK. And if I were to lose my life here on earth, I'd be even better.

So, basically, you're perfectly willing to take anything from gay people that is convenient for you--skill, training, services, social or scientific innovations. You're perfectly cool living longer due to the sweat and endless nights of study of a gay person. You'd gladly enjoy art and technology that was provided by a gay person. Basically, anything you like, you'll take, and it's fine if the person giving you stuff is gay. But those people who offer it better not ask for recognition as human beings equal to you.

Out of curiosity, if you were being shot at, would you accept the protection of a gay person who stood in front of you or fought off the attacker? If so, would you still, afterward, turn around and call him a filthy degenerate who has no right to things you take for granted? If a gay person offered you money in a time of need, would you take *that* also, and then continue to fight against him? Would you donate some of that money to causes which would fight to keep him underemployed, under insured and at risk for brutal crimes?

So far, you seem perfectly willing to take anything you want from gay people (including their imagery, which you have suggested you explore an *awful* lot), and kick them in the face the first time you get the chance. Just wondering how far that goes.

I come from a Catholic-based clan and not a one yet. DNA will keep it that way.
Yeah, I was the first in my family, too.

Sir, I know the Gay Community and Gay Culture all too well.
Now *that* I believe.

People who use the Internet have no choice but to interact with gays.

Marshall Kirk McKusick and Eric Allman, two openly gay men, designed the software that drives an enormous part of the Internet.

I do not pretend to understand the technical details of their contribution to humanity, but essentially, it is almost 100% certain that if you send an email or post a message to an Internet forum, at some point in its journey it will be processed by software designed by McKusick and Allman.

Christians, stop posting now! Every post you send, every email you send, is an affirmation of gay culture.

Yeah that'll happen. They have no problem boycotting Disney but when you hit them where it really hurts, their "convictions" seem to crumble quite quickly. Funny how that works.

We've taken the "rules" of a book of books written 2,000+ years ago (and revised and edited numerous times for many reason) then quote it word for word with plenty of sects all believing their own interpretations of the same words, but say you know without a doubt that "you're" version is "right" and that you condemn others because of your interpretations of these words that have been worked over more times and a NYC bus station harlot (sorry for the visual but it needed to be said).

It's always been something different and especially so clearly in the last century or so. First it was women's rights, then black's rights, now homosexuals want their equality to. If you've come to terms with the rest of these groups seeking the same rights as "everyone else" then why do people find it so hard to give homosexuals the same rights? It's not just an "American" issue. The "rules and laws" of societies through out the world and all time have always favor the "men in power". They change these rules as they see fit.

I bring this up of the rules and laws of separation of Church and State. If one group declares that homosexuals be given equal rights should the other condemn them for any reason?

There are many ways to quote the Bible for both sides of this argument but once again you fall back to there be SO many interpretations of one thing that who is to say who is right or wrong? Whether you like it or not you have to leave it up to a person's personal interpretations and decisions on the issue.

But to put it in perspective this fight has been going on for thousands of years. Slaves interacting with owners, women interacting with men, blacks interacting with whites, now homosexuals interacting with Christians. It's always fallen back on one side wanting equal rights as the one that fears/opposes them. It's all about one side being too judgmental and the other being tried of being oppressed. Age old fight with new terms of the moment.

Well, as to the original question, Yes. We should interact with Gays as Christians.
Regardless of if you view it as sin, or if you are yourself or not, none of that matters.

Afterall, interaction is the only way to bring the message of Christ to a person. And that is what we, as followers of Christ, are called to do.

I would love to see a way to bring that message without interaction of some sort. Every email, every conversation, every bulletin is an interaction. And every time the message is witnessed to someone, it is an interaction. There is no getting around that.

Christ Himself ate with sinners to preach His message. He did not avoid them anymore than we should (or can, for that matter). To do so is falling far short of our commission.

And, on the note of emails and such. Every person who even uses a computer is using a machine that could not be possible without the enormous contribution of a homosexual man, Alan Turing. He also was key to the winning of many WWII battles, due to his ability of ciphering German code, etc.

I don't think a lot of gay people even care about the institution of marriage. Its is about destroying it. Its Being in rebellion to God and recognition of their rebellion to God and if there wasn't a institution of marriage needed. There wouldn't have been a need to create women in the first place.
As long as you keep thinking that, instead of actually putting in the effort to have even a modicum of understanding of their position, you'll continue to push people away from Christianity.

Not that I'm complaining.

Funny, I've seen exceptions for years. What, only we straight people can enjoy over coffee, the occasional in depth discussion on different things including religion?

half the "gays" I've talked to in my city and other areas I've traveled to, are more irritated with the idiots on all sides who keep blowing up over the slightest thing.

And the news reporters etc don't help it at all. They just rub at the blister called Idiocy until part of it splatters causing them to apologize before rubbing some more.
Certainly Gays themselves are demanding that Christians leave them alone.

In which case we wouldn't be having this discussion. There would still have to be a way for Adam to have children to care for and teach.
There wouldn't have been a need to create women in the first place.

2 Christians did. They had both been gay, and had aids. They became saved complete with many witnesses.

Then spent the rest of their lives in adjoining apartments, taking care of each other as the disease worsened.

Which, doesn't stop those who are not saved from doing the same thing. That wasn't part of the point I was making.

they died within 3 days of each other.

as to where that link is, there was never a news article. Take it as fact or fiction as anyone here decides to.

Hmm how could you verify that?

Certainly Gays themselves are demanding that Christians leave them alone. So much tension, anger and argument whenever a Christian has to engage a homosexual/Gay Activist, should a Christian even be doing it in the first place?

...
Possibly... but when someone brings something to you can you avoid it?
Also history has generally not been kind to those who have stood idly and let things pass them by.

There is certainly judgement needed whether one does or does not confront soemthing, and it's not an easy or a light choice. Some things do need to be confronted others should not be.

In the case of just street protesting, probably not.
