The new greatest commandment of the WIKI Bible: if its a sin and you feel good doing it then its not really a sin and a moral judgement of another person.
This is sort of the problem. Many people - including Christians - really do see it that way, and that's the message they'll be spreading to new Christians who come here in good faith.

Yes, sadly, not only do they believe this heresy (I seriously can not think of another word to soft pedal around it) that sin is relative moralism but they will spread it to new people trying to learn about real Christianity.

That's never a mistake Read the whole thread... can't judge a thread by just a few posts. x

I read everything but page 4 and 5. If there's something on one of those pages you think I should read, I'll read it.

Otherwise... I don't know how I'm supposed to feel about this discussion.

Am really sorry it's upsetting you. Do you feel it reflects on you somehow? Cos it so doesn't. You aren't unwanted. Truly. You're totally welcome here. The members aren't the problem. It's Erwin's reluctance to acknowledge some of the problems, and his unwillingness to listen to the valid points people are making.

i think i could go for the "Overly Tolerent, Relativistic, Postmodern, Fellowship."

-hypocracy and foolishness welcome, tolerated, and left unjudged and unquestioned.
and if we don't like it; we delete it immediately. PRAISE. . . . . WHATEVER.

it's not quite this bad yet, but if it doesn't slow down, this is where we're headed.

I'm holding out for now that this will still be a Christian place and I still do see Christ here.

There are Christians here but that is not the same as a Christian organization or website.

Christians use EBay and MySpace but that does not make either Christian,

There are Christians in the stands at an LSU game but that does not make Tiger Stadium a Church (although that may yet be reversed by WIKI).

We started off being Conservative Christians. Then we had people who didn't want "conservative" to be defined so as to exclude anyone who felt that they might be kinda conservative in any way sometimes. Now that "conservative" has been effectively rendered "whatever you want to say it is" we are moving on to asking for the eliminating of the "Christian" part of the website's raison d'etre too?

Why don't we just have the following as our statement?:

Thanks for starting this thread, and this poll, Steve. So far the vote is overwhelmingly in favor of changing the name. It will be interesting to see if the will of "the people" will truly be honored; if the "majority" actually does get their wishes honored via polls and votes. Somehow, I tend to doubt it, if what recently happened in another poll is any indication. (I'm referring to another recent poll asking if a certain new subforum should be created/established. The vote was a resounding "NO." But the "losers" didn't like the outcome of the new "democratic" "Christian" Forums, so they apparently complained to Erwin and, Viola!, the new subforum was established anyway, despite the vote. My guess is that a similar thing will happen here. That the name will not be changed, despite the will of "the people." *Shrug*)

I wasn't sure how I felt when it first happened because I didn't really understand it all, but I knew something was really wrong here.

Never can tell. He said he would never allow non-Christian moderators and now he said he changed his mind. Who is to say never means never?
This is definitely a mistake on a Christian forum.

Hey, this is a nice little FEMA trailer amid the flood of relativism that inundated the place when the levees broke on 7-7-7.
Its sad that we feel the decisions made lately are a disaster...the only thing we can do about it is either leave or make light of it. This is a sad state of CF indeed.

This is scary...something needs to be done before this happens.

Wiki is wicked, I don't care what anybody says, its a way of separating the body of Christ.

Already suggested by me:

This is scary.

100% yes. When a rule of the site is "if you think you are Christian just go for it and call yourself one regardless of what you believe" then you pretty much just threw Christ out the door.
Unfortunately, this is true.

where've you been Steve? The word Christian should have been removed a long time ago.
I don't know about that, but it should be now. I'm voting yes based upon a lot of the things I've seen here lately, especially the new rules.

This is scary indeed.

In addition to this thread, I think this question, and this vote/poll, should be posted throughout "C"F. Either individually, in every single forum and subforum or, at the least, in a more general place, where EVERYONE can see it and vote. I don't think it would change the outcome of the vote, since I really believe the majority of folks here at "C"F probably feel the name should be changed. But posting it elsewhere/everywhere would at least quash the enivitable cries of "Foul!" and "Bias!" that will, undoubtably follow if this is the only place/forum the question/poll/vote is posed.

Hiya, Skripper.

Thing is, it wouldn't make a jot of difference. Erwin ultimately rules with an iron fist consisting of brief rejoinders, failiure to acknowledge the actual issue, then locking the thread to prevent further discussion.

It's the democratic way.

I agree, someone should bring this to whomever can make this a sticky in every forum so EVERYONE can vote on this very important question.

Its a shame that a lot of people think this way. The sad thing is, I'm not unconvinced about this either.

It comes down to who has the site registered and who is footing the bills. I think it would be sad if the majority of users (not counting troll accounts to throw off polls) voted to change the site's name (which they should IMO) and Erwin refused to change it.

It was brought up very soon after the announcement and he didn't acknowledge it. I'd imagine all the site supportership and Unmentionable Company adverts would more than cover the cost, but it doesn't look like the New, Transparent CF includes seeing the accounts

It's only a democracy up to a point. Beyond that, if Erwin doesn't *want* something - like an alternative name - the issue doesn't exist, majority vote or not.
