Hi...just wanted some feed back on this question.

I don't believe we should. When I ask the question would Christ go to war....I do not get an answer from the New testament that He would.
never read the book of revelations?

Also wars are judgments on man from God.
maybe. not all though.

So if a judgment is falling upon a nation....should a Christian defend such a nation.
Our faith is personal. one on one with God through christ. War is dealing with nations and the fallen world. So its a personal choice you seek with God whether you should or shouldnt. Maybe a christian is on the other side, as in in the army giving the judgment.

The Almighty defend those He loves....and if He chooses to let those He loves die....is it not for a good reason.
God is always correct so the guestion is void. As in there is no "did God do the right thing?".

Yes, when it comes to protecting FREEDOM (which is a gift from God, for us to prosper for the primary purpose of spreading the Gospel as noted in Deuteronomy 8:18) we should be willing to fight with deadly force to protect it.

If we are fighting for righteousness in the face of tyranny, it is not a sin to kill those fighting on the side of tyranny because it is in fact self-defense. If we do not fight to protect our freedom, then tyranny will kill us, so self defense is ordained of God and is not sinful.

If it were, God Himself would be guilty...cause He's killed lots of folks in the defense of Israel and He considers it a righteous thing to vindicate His own.

In fact, before Long God is going to kill millions that march on Israel...

You have to remember, God never said "thou shalt not kill".... no, He said, "thou shalt not murder"... self defense is not murder but justified killing in that, if you don't kill them... they WILL kill you.

This is why we fight terrorism... if we don't kill them, they will destroy the free world and STOP the Gospel of Jesus Christ from going forth, which is satan's game plan.

Welcome to reality...

Well said James!!! I fought during the Viet Nam war so I know where your coming from.

Thank you sir, for your service not only to our country, but also to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ protecting the freedom He desires for all men to have!

I've known several Vietnam vets over the years and always thought they got a raw deal from the public in general. I'm glad in recent years there's been at least some positive recognition for vets of this conflict.

So military might is greater than spiritual might. Yet the god of this world is a spirit being who has his angels over every nation to deceive them. How do you fight this mighty spirit being called satan using military weapons.

The only way I know of is what Jesus did and that was through interceding for people on the spiritual level......serving His Father and submitting to His will. Through His life which was one of service He saved many for generations to come. He overcame satan not through military might but through living a humble life....serving others and bringing light into a dark and lost world.

Daniel was well loved by God and when he prayed the heavens moved. Moses interceded for Israel to prevent God wiping them out with a plague.

The prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much. James 5:16. God is looking for men and women who will intercede for their country on the spiritual level as Jesus and others did. This intercessary prayer by those serving their Maker is far more powerful than any military campaign.

How did Joshua defeat Jericho and Hezekiah defeat the Assyrians......wasn't it through prayer and faith in God.

The enemy has deceived the nations into believing that military might is the way to go.......and many have been deceived.

No it is a person coming before their Creator/Redeemer with a humble heart.....repenting and being forgiving of others that wins battles for nations. Try it......you will be amazed at the results. Try it in your neighbourhood and stand in the gap for your community.

For it is then that the angels of God are commanded to go and fight for His people and the Holy Spirit is released upon that community and nation to do good and to heal it.

God can defeat any enemy......if He so chooses.......and, "when a mans ways are pleasing to the Lord, He makes even his enemies live at peace with him." Proverbs 16:7

The question if Christians should go to war is conditional and you haven't really laid down any categorical conditions. A christian shouldn't fight a war that isn't his, if he's in captivity, he is forced to be a patron to his captor and he must fight. But there's yet another condition, in our time it differs from other times in history, the cause is relevant to the reason for fighting. Are we fighting a natural battle right now? Yes, and no! We fight a natural war but for wrong reasons and we can't fight the supernatural because the whole world is deceived as it is written in Revelation.

Now, if the christian knows what he's fighting and the reason and it being supernatural, then he's fighting the good fight. The current natural wars that we fight are all smoke screens and mirrors, the world fights over lies; this is prophesied.

My answer to your question is: don't fight somebody else's battle and don't fight your own unless you know what the fight is about, otherwise you'll lose.

WOW....Should christians be police officers? What if they have to shoot someone to save some one? Some of you would think all police officers shouldn't be christians then ...right? I served, my brother served an my Dad served an my Grandfather served as soldiers for this country, isn't it nice that some "christians" who enjoy LIFE an FREEDOM can sit back an judge those that GAVE it to them. If any christian in his mind believes its wrong for them then they shouldn't. I believe Sgt. York a hero in WWI had to ponder this if it was right for him or not....he said later that he didn't go an fight so he could kill, but to save those who couldn't defend themselves....if you love someone, how can you sit back an let someone hurt them when you can stop it....?

My Dad went to fight the Japs in WWII, at age 16. A shell hit an killed some of them an Dad got back up an kept fighting....later he found his bible in his shirt pocket has 2 shrapnel holes through the pages, the back cover was made of steel an stopped them.....the doc told him that bible an plateing stopped those fragments from going through his heart an killing him. After the war the Dunkards made fun of my Dad telling him would go to hell for killing (Dunkards didn't have to go war) an they thought it was funny.

Blessed are the peace keepers.......gues who I believe those people are

If you would have just sat back and watched the Germans and the Japanese murder rape and torture .. and do nothing to stop them . . . can you really call yourself a lover of mankind ?? . . . what kind of world would we have today if they had never been stopped ?? . . . turning the other cheek is a personal issue . . . let a man break in my house and threaten the lives of my family . . . . he WILL deal with me (and my 45) first . . . Jesus' kingdom is not of this world .. if it were .. his disciples would have fought . . . btw: we just supposed to sit b back and watch Iran wipe Israel off the map ?? . . . should police not carry guns ?? .. if you think so .. then let's let it start in your town ............... peace and safety

Thank you for your reply RoyalBlue.....I can see you are a conservative....I am too. Yet we differ in our understanding on this subject. Let me present my case.

Wars are the result of sin in a fallen world. In Gods Kingdom in the next age there will be no more wars. "Nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more." Isaiah 2;3-5

As we live in an age that is soon coming to an end....what we obtain here in the form of material things is useless to enter the next age. Jesus said "store up your treasures in heaven." Matt 6:19-21

So when we defend our nation.....what are we defending. Isn't it what God has given to us. And if God has given us our nation.....and don't forget all nations have been conquered at some stage.....isn't it God who is about to take it off us and give it to another or punish us.

Why would a loving Creator bring an enemy upon us......is it not because of sin. Isn't it He that sets the boundary's of all nations and resets them to His will. Why, if He wanted a nation to conquer my or your nation.....nothing on this earth would stop Him achieving His will.

So to go to war to defend a nation under judgement seems foolish.

Satan is the god of this world and our battles are with this unseen enemy.....so to defend our real treasures ....the things that will last eternity we need to fight a spiritual war for our nation....our community and our family.

And how is this done...." If My people who are called by My name humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, will forgive their sin and will heal their land." Chronicles 7;14

So if you want the Almighty to fight your battles.......the solution lies in a nation turning from their sin in a humble manner. It is then He will forgive and and heal the land and protect it from its enemies. Yet would a nation do such a thing.....not likely.....for all are deceived and wonder after the god of this world.

Yet God has shown us that the prayer of a righteous man accomplishes much. James 5;16. And if small groups of believers come together praying for their nation....seeking forgiveness....isn't He listening and doesn't heaven respond to such prayers.

Yes I am a conservative ....yet I have a different solution to the same problem......my question to you is, which one is more effective?

I agree with Blue Sapphire. Jesus told Peter to put his sword away. Jesus fought spiritual battles. Our war is not against flesh and blood, but against spirits, demons. Prayer has the most power to help us. Guns and violence only ruins Christ's name. I am offended by the nra ads I see here on CF. Owning a gun is not Christian. Christians should not own guns except if they are police officers. I do not think Christians should get involved with the military. Jesus told us to be peaceful and not kill. The military turns good men and women into killing machines. Not to mention the fact that women in the military are often sexually assaulted. And don't give me that garbage that women should not be in service. Women have just as much rights to join the military as men.
How can you have a gun and call yourself a Christian when you plan to kill someone and take a human life? Killing an animal is pretty bad too, especially if it is a beautiful, gentle deer.

There is only one thing I want to do more than kick the ##$% out of the unGodly and advocate it.

That one thing is submit to Jesus Christ.

-----

I think Jesus wants us to stop all aggression and only serve out love.

---- the ultimate goal----no more war.

I think we are being trained to have a semblance of congruent thinking with Holy beings for our existence in heaven.

Christians must learn to be very tough and to teach those who kill us that the way of Jesus Christ is peace and love and if it takes centuries of slaughter---so be it........ at some point everyone on earth will realize who is the peace maker and what is the correct world view.

with us fighting back (and believe me I want to second most of all) even in defence those aggressors will not get it.

I am sorry to say this--it is scary--but we are to sacrifice ourselves as Jesus Christ did in order to teach and save these lost Godless murderess just like the nazis....and it may take many years or a few.

thats my take on the bible so far---I have looked for an ok to go kick some butt because I am sick of this blasphemous nature going on now-a--days.---but God teaches he will deal with it---our job is to learn how to be heavenly---peaceful--sacrificial.

having said all that I honestly don't know if i could let some evil punk push my family around---probably not.

Jesus forgive me.

we must remember we are here for a reason---to learn to be with God.
and the most important thing is to submit to God and let Him deal with things.

---
