What gets tiresome is when, as so often is the case, the first point is supported my flawed reasoning which I then feel obligated to correct. The rest of the post is meaningless after that. Too many times we don't ensure that what we say actually conveys what we want to say. As a result even the illustrations become meaningless. I should be able to understand somebody's point of view even if I don't know what went into it. If I disagree then I will ask for clarification. That way everyone benefits. Personally, I want as many people as possible to read my posts, even those with only a passing interest.

The problem is that if you don't give full reasoning some will challeng you on this alone.

I guess we all have our preferences. I don't really want people to read it if they are not interested.

See in forums that I have gone to before when you use the quote button you quote EVERYTHING they said in the post, Including any quotes they may have used as well. This resulted in overlapping quotes so you could get the whole of the foregoing conversation represented in their post.

When you quote here all you get is there words, and none of the quotes they used.

Here is an illustration of what the other looks like

On a related subject, on most boards I go to when you quote you get their initial quotes too. But here you don't. Any reason why that you know of?
I don't understand what you are referring to here.

Now see, it shows both levels of quotes so far. I had to construct this manually, but it does it by default on most boards. I can only assume they wanted to eliminate people quoting huge volumes as sometimes happens, but I miss it at times.

Oh, now I get what you meant! We could ask Admin. I am sure they would be willing to tweak things.

Well they may not wish to by default, but even a checkbox that allows for it would be nice.

It depends on the subject matter and the writer. If the writer of the post is talented, and makes the subject matter interesting, I wouldn't care if it were a book, I'd still read it.

^_^Yep....That's my attitude , as well. It's the quality I seek, whatever quantity is used. A "sound byte" mentality is what has kept folks from actually reading much of the Word as a whole , and throttled the desires to explore the huge collections of worthy Adventist books of the past.

We have different ideas about the potential of the internet. I am here to discover by tapping into the thoughts others share and interacting with them. It is a laboratory situation. I don't care to be lectured, especially when I cannot see the supports behind your ideas.

Yep,payattention: shoddy lectures no one enjoys. Good ones are rare. That's why I like books, and reprint them for others. Books give us real time chances for weighing evidences; the internet is too ephemeral for that, usually.
As for me; I know I know nothing, therefore I am willing to give ear to anyone whose relationship with Christ has lit up a facet of truth that I didn't see.

Everyone has the ability to skip a longer post. Which is why it hurts no one to let others fully explain themselves in longer posts.

I love long involved posting. Each person saying "yup" or "nope" to something is pointless. Especially on biblical questions I want evidence, not a notion.

Now that is not to say some of us (er, me) couldn't be more succint at times. My wife reminds me of that. But some things simply demand longer explanations. If those are not what your looking for, then just hop over them.

What I don't like is when someone won't read the long post, but then comments on it. You have the choice to read it or not. But posting while ill-informed is just showing that you don't care.

There are times too I don't want to read a lot. I just know that I might miss that post and the chance to participate in the thread. Oh well, my choice.

The person responds because something jumps out at them when they scanned. Nothing wrong with that.

Happy Sabbath. Oh i was going to copy and paste the whole scripture of Math but it is not necessary. I had a dream a Demon named Ron the Rabbit demon was trying to inhabit me. I said the LOrds Prayer in my dream but then GOD revealed i said the wrong thing. I should have said "In Jesus Blood I rebuke you" I had a previous dream where 2 demons were talking and said they couldn't because i knew what to say. Then i rebuked them in JESUS blood and they disappeared. AMEN TY Jesus

Right on, tall 73.
Scanners have every right to do so, but long posters do as well.
To try to control the content of another's posting is unchristian; to post unChristlike due to ignoring someone's post (of any length) is sowing tares among good seed.
I don't understand the value judgments.

I am feeling that you missed the point of my OP. All I am asking is that those with very long posts to simply divide that one post into two or three posts. It will not take anything away from the poster's message because the posts are one behind the other. Have you read what Jonathan said regarding the longer posts? That is not a matter of controlling the content of another's posts. Kindly note the difference so that this misunderstanding will be quickly cleared up. :amen:
