Thanks, Returner, for your response. Yes, discipline is great. A disciple is one who is disciplined. We are to exercise ourselves unto holiness.
I am 45 hours into my dry fast. In the past 24 hours I have felt somewhat thirsty, but not too much. Rinsing my mouth with water feels refreshing. I have also been feeling tired. However, I still get much done. (I led Bible study and prayer meetings for 3 & 1/2 hours today. I studied the Bible for hours. I read Christian books for hours. I pray in tongues all day long.) I cannot say I feel more spiritually uplifted than normal eating days. But I trust God will reward me sooner or later. Of course the kind of reward I am looking for is primarily spiritual reward. I don't mind receiving other rewards though.

I am 69 hours into my dry fast. I feel somewhat tired and weak. I have some heart palpitation. I feel a little thirsty like yesterday. But physically I am OK. The more difficult part is I feel a temptation from time to time to quit and eat something delicious. But I know I could go on by God’s strength. I am using my time fruitfully.

If you feel weak and are having heart palps, you should eat something...at least a protein shake to sustain your body and not starve.

Thanks for your concern, Returner.
I read much about dry fasting before I dared to start it years ago. I obtained much information from this website:
http://www.fastingconnection.com/index.php/forum/index
My understanding is that fasting is not to be broken with protein, which could be dangerous.

I am OK. A little bit of heart palpitation is normal. A stage of much weakness is very normal in water fast or dry fast. That is one reason why fasting is so beneficial to our spiritual life. We recognize our fleshly weakness and we also have to hang on to God to keep going emotionally.

Returner, thanks for responding. Will skipping one meal several times a week be OK for your heart? You don’t have to do a long fast. Or you could do a Daniel fast for a longer period, which is to skip all your favorite foods and just eat those that are essential to your health.

I decided to end my fasting at 89th hour. This is longer than my previous longest dry fast, which lasted 84 hours. I give all thanks to God for having sustained me. This fast is not easy, but it is difficult either. I will certainly come back later.

The reason I decided to end my dry fast is because I have to give a ride to somebody. I think it is dangerous to drive in my weakened physical condition. I feel I could have gone on for another day if I don't have to drive.

I plan to first drink a large glass of melt water, which is supposed to help with further detoxing the body. Then I will drink warm vegetable soup for several hours. Then I could eat a little bit of well-cooked greens. The next day I could have well-cooked greens and raw vegetables. The next day I could add fresh fruits and other vegetables. All this diet caution is to avoid damaging the sleeping digestive system, especially the spleen, before it is gently awakened. I cannot eat any salted food the first 3 days (since I fasted for 3+ days) so as to avoid dangerous edema before protein store is normalized.

All my silent readers, I appreciate your company. You helped me be accountable.

My heart beat returned to normal after 30 minutes of slowly drinking melt water. Strength returned after some food. I have been taking in clean food. Strangely, I miss my fasting days. Maybe the Lord is calling me back.
I will give myself one more day to recover from the last fast. (Two times I suddenly felt slightly dizzy. I think that was just toxins had been dug out from within my body during the fast but have not yet been expelled.) Then I will have another short dry fast.

I am 24 hours into a new dry fast. Physically I feel a bit dry and fleeting hunger occasionally. Emotionally I have fleeting temptations to eat a large refreshing piece of fruit. I cry out to God for strength from time to time. I give praise to God that a day has passed and I am still doing it. I plan to do it for 6 days--dry fast for as long as I could go and then water fast.
Anyone wants to join me for mutual encouragement? You decide your own fasting regimen of course.

I am nearing the end of my 2rd day of dry fasting. I give all praise to God, to whom I cry out from time to time for strength to continue.
Physically it has not been too difficult. I feel fleeting hunger occasionally. I don't feel much thirst and my mouth is still moist, although a big glass of water would be a treat.
I feel a little weak, but not so weak that I feel discomfort. I did an hour of light housework. I read and wrote all day. I am not as energetic as on normal days. But I feel comfortable.

60 hours into my dry fast. I sense some weakness. When I do housework, every 20 minutes I sit down to take a rest. My mouth is a little dry. My heart palpitation is up just a little. I still feel fleeting hunger occasionally.

On My first day of dry fast, I did 2 hours of hard yard work, cutting off weeds that have grown to become small trees and trimming larger trees. In this summer weather, I perhaps sweat a little too much.

I have slept very well so far. Some people complain that they cannot sleep while fasting. Thanks be to God that I not only sleep soundly but I also sleep more hours than usual, which is certainly welcome during fasting: good sleep helps restore energy and long sleep hours mean fewer hours fighting temptations to eat.

Thanks be to God that I have no other detox symptoms. The first time I did a prolonged water fast years ago, my back hurt very much on Day 2. I read that it was because many toxins were gathered to be expelled. I have paid attention to eat really healthy since.

I am 72 hours into my dry fast. I give all praise and thanksgiving to God.
I have slept or rested on bed much of the time in the past 24 hours. I definitely have less energy. If I walk around for 10 minutes doing housework, I feel tired. But I could sit and write and do Bible study as usual. Strangely, I feel my mouth is more moist than 12 hours ago and I don't feel very thirsty. I definitely could go on for another day.

I can’t believe I have reached the 96th hour mark (4 whole days!) in my dry fast. I give all praise and thanksgiving to God.

This day I feel about the same as yesterday. I am not very thirsty. But from time to time I feel the temptation to eat something. I have to call out to God from time to time to help me continue fasting. I can sit and read and do Bible study all day long. But when I stand up and do some light housework I get tired very fast.

I am 109 hours into my dry fast. I feel about the same as the last two days: I don’t feel very thirsty (actually less thirsty than the first two days. I read that this is because the body is breaking down more fat to combine with breathed-in oxygen to supply purest water to the body), mouth still moist. I cry out to God from time to time to resist the temptation to eat something (this is the most difficult part). I have enough energy to sit reading and writing and doing Bible study all day long, but walking around tires me out in a few minutes. My heart palpitation is up just a little bit. I sleep very well. Since I am home alone this week, sleeping at any hour as long as I want is a real treat.

Each fasting day is equally difficult. But each day is not too difficult. It is certainly better than suffering a mild headache or a cold or flu or any discomfort from illness. And since I know dry fast is the most effective way to get rid of accumulated toxins, I feel I am investing in my future health.

I have experienced no pain or any de-tox symptoms. But I believe my experience will not be the experience of everyone attempting a fast. I have done short fasting regularly and I eat super healthy (no processed food and rarely eating out). If you are new to fast, you better start with short water fast and pay attention to eating healthy from now on. When you can do at least three days of water fast with no bodily discomfort (heavy de-tox symptoms), then you can attempt one day of dry fast. Supposedly one day of dry fast is equal to 3 days of water fast in terms of getting rid of bodily toxins. Actually dry fasting is easier than water fasting in my experience----if there are no detox symptoms. I read that a really unhealthy person could die from one day of dry fasting because so many toxins are activated in the body. But your body will shout out to you before you reach the fatal point. Don’t worry.

I have exceeded my expectation in terms of the length of doing dry fasting. My longest record was 89 hours. I plan to end my dry fast sometime tomorrow. I read that a healthy person should not do a dry fast exceeding 5-7 days because it will become detrimental to health. Since this is the first time I do such a long dry fast, I think 5 days-plus is enough.

And I am cancelling my water fast after that. Some things come up and I need to resume my energy to deal with them.

I give all praise and thanksgiving to God for giving me strength to do this fast.

My dry fast ended at 130th hour. Afterwards, I drank 8 cups of water in 9 hours. Actually after drinking the first cup I did not feel drinking more water. But I read that one must drink 2 liters of water after dry fast before eating well-cooked vegetables. And it is needed for sure, for my body absorbed almost all the water. So technically I did 9 hours of water fast after ending my dry fast. It was not difficult, for I did not feel like eating after I started drinking water. During those 9 hours, I did four hours of yard work and then I drove to a grocer to buy food. My energy was not fully restored during my water fast, but it was certainly much better than when I did dry fast. Now I know the difference between dry fast and water fast in terms of energy.

I give all praise and glory to God for sustaining me through this fasting experience. It was not enjoyable to be honest. But it was not too difficult. And I got a lot of fruitful work done as I sat before my desk all day long. And I expect God’s reward as He promises in the Bible.

I am doing dry fast/water fast for a few days for practicing Christian fasting and for preparing myself for my summer missions trip. Anyone wants to join me for mutual encouragement and accountability?
I am 22 hours into a dry fast. I feel fine.

To do a fast like in Scripture water, and Juices are always involved. You can dehydrate yourself and before you know it your body chemistry is out of whack, don't do this!
