  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Actually, his name is spelled Zoro in Japan. It's on his wanted poster and stuff...

Yeah, they tend to mess with things like that when they translate things over. For example, Dragonball Z... Krillin? or Kuririn? It's just not too big of a deal, not like some anime where the entire name is changed or anything. That is a huge pet peeve of mine. Anime isn't American, why must the names of people sound American? Japanese is a beautiful language.

As for parents that hate anime... my brother and I got my mom hooked on anime. Now she sits down with us and wants to watch almost everything we own. Show your parents a few anime classics, something that really makes them think... they won't be saying that anime is only for children for very much longer. ^.^

No clue. Maybe because they HATE anime

There's an article on the focus on the family website plugged in warning of the "evils of anime and manga" essentially.

http://www.pluggedinonline.com/extrafeatures/a0001965.html

While I agree that many anime and manga are not for younger viewers (under 10 or so), I certainly think that they are far better than most of what passes for entertainment on network TV and the like. We screen what our kids watch and read, but our oldest daughter shares a sub of Shonen Jump with us. She loves it and all the anime she's seen. It's sad that such beautiful and developed stories are being dismissed as some sort of devil-worshipping nonsense. Hello folks, these are stories and because they are set in Japan, they contain references to Japanese culture including their religious beliefs and superstitions and fairytale type elements.

My dad loves speed racer, although, does that count as an anime anymore? Hahahaha.

My mom remembers watching that one, actually. Both that and the original AstroBoy were what got her into anime, without even knowing what it was. *laughs*
