I don't understand this comment. Consequentialism is not how we argue for any proposition. It is a fallacy.

As Christians we are given a world designed by God and also given the desire to understand that world. Newton was famous for this approach. Why avoid the discussion by tieing evangelism to a particular scientific inference about how life diverged?

This seems like bumper sticker theology. But it was cute.
When that God-given desire to understand a world designed by God produces results that go contrary to God's written word, then those results can take a hike.

So, where do you think dinosaur fossils show up and fit into the biblical accounts, AV?

What? the fossils? or the dinosaurs themselves?

I think Eve had a favorite pet dragon.

I can't prove it of course, but it's just an educated guess.

Both? How does your interpretive matrix of the Bible account for the obvious presence of dinosaurs, or any other form of life from our prehistoric past?

I think Eve had a favorite pet dragon.
Really?

I can't prove it of course, but it's just an educated guess.
And how did you arrive at this guess, AV?

Dinosaurs and dragons are mentioned in the Bible; especially in the book of Job.

Because Satan appeared to Eve in the garden as a dragon beast before God turned him into a serpent.

And I don't think it would be stretching the Truth to surmise that Satan would have choosen Eve's favorite animal to use to lie to her.

If you're going to poison someone, would you put the poison in buttermilk, or woud you put it in water?

Really? According to which biblical commentator(s), AV?

Because Satan appeared to Eve in the garden as a dragon beast before God turned him into a serpent.
Well......that's one way to look at it, I suppose, isn't it?

And I don't think it would be stretching the Truth to surmise that Satan would have choosen Eve's favorite animal to use to lie to her.
So, she likes 'crafty' animals, ay? And she knew that the Serpent was "crafty" while dialoguing with him (it)?

If you're going to poison someone, would you put the poison in buttermilk, or woud you put it in water?
I don't know. I've never tried to poison anyone.

What serpent?

Eve ... was ... talking ... to ... an ... animal ... with ... four ... legs.

Sorry, Philo, but I'd better see a light bulb come on, or I'm going to stop replying here.

I don't think Eve was anywhere near this dragon when God turned it into a serpent.

But one thing is for certain: Eve did not talk to it as a serpent ... it was [probably] a dragon at the time.

...on the other hand, you might want to fully realize that I wasn't asking whether or not there was a serpent in the Garden of Eden account. What I asked was, was he crafty and did Eve know this beforehand?

Yes.

Genesis 3:1a Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made.
2PhiloVoid said:

Probably.

And yes, I know what Paul said:

2 Corinthians 11:3 But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.

I had a brother (who died Friday night in his sleep) who was a pool shark.

I knew that, and he knew that I knew that.

But I let my guard down one time, and he nailed me good.

I didn't suspect he'd use his craftiness on me.

AV, you know don't you that you need to get out of the water when you begin to hear strange music on the strings ... dun-DUNT! dun-DUNT! dun-DUNT, dun-dun-dun, DUNT, dun-dun-dun................;)

But, seriously, I am sorry to hear about your brother (in Christ?) who passed away a few days ago. Bless him!

That is true. I think she is a Christian. But she is not an evangelical Christian. There is no room of evolution in Evangelism.

So, juvenissun, why do you think there's no room in the Evangelical Inn for the Theory of Evolution?

That is the definition.

Actually, there are "mainstream" varieties, and there are "non-conservative" varieties. So, let's keep in mind that the evangelical position is now a landscape of horizons rather than simply a singular, conservative vision. So, some of us more progressive type evangelicals can very much appreciate the Theory of Evolution and affirm the Bible as God's Word at the same time.

Lol! To know the answer and the meaning, you would have had to have grown up in the 1980's and watched children's Saturday morning cartoons ... ^_^ Don't worry, he's not real, and he's not a leader of a cult. Pretty harmless, really.

When I was a kid, those cartoons were replayed on cable t.v. during the 1970's, and I loved all four of them, even if they were a little before my time.
