I've been playing a platforming game with great puzzle and RPG elements. You start out as a near human girl in your abilities and by buying Upgrades (in the game, they don't cost real money), pretty soon you can use magical abilities like shooting fireballs, which can also be upgraded. It's a really good game for the $20-$30 price tag and is available on almost every platform.
It also handles level 'Backtracking' in a really good way.
