Redeemed Darkness
Drue looked down at Sarik. In truth, both Drue and Sarik were about the same height. However, because Drue stood erect and proudly while Sarik almost skulked and looked ready to dart away at any moment, there was a considerable difference in their height.
Drue was also a little unnerved by Sarik. In his world, all the animals he had ever met had generally fallen into two categories: a) Animals that will try to eat you, and b) animals that will eat you. Any that did not fall into those two categories did not interest him much. He never had much truck with pets. Sarik's ears and tail were enough to put him off, but it sounded like Sarik's people might know about other races of the elemental plains, and he needed someone with whom he could confide about his mission.
"I am Drue Kry'bhri," he repeated, but added, "I am Svartalfar. You say you know spirits. I wish to see your peoples, your elders. I need talk with someone who knows my peoples. I wish you to take me there."
