I turned up to work on May 21 only to be told they didn't need me because I wasn't really suitable for the position (nothing at all to do with performance) - it boils down to Australia Post needed someone who knows the HR business. The agency who sent me was supposed to ring me Friday (May 18) afternoon to tell me I wasn't needed today. So about ten minutes after I got there I ended up going home.

So do you get paid by the temporary agency? Is that your primary job?

With the agency, I only get paid for the time I worked - so yes for the days I was there the agency did pay me. Being registered with an employment agency means that if a business rings them and they need someone to come in for a few days, the agency then rings anyone who is registered with them to offer them some work.

They have a temporary employment companies here in the US that supply companies with temporary help & they employ people to be permanent temps. I thought maybe you worked for one of those. Sorry to hear it didn't work out.

That's okay - to be honest I really wasn't happy there because I ended up doing different work to what the agency told me I would be doing. I was told I'd be answering the phone and doing data entry but ended up doing a mail merge unsuccessful letter to applicants and doing reference checks.

Yeah, I remember you saying you didn't like it. It's not fun to do a job you don't enjoy. Ah, but something wonderful will be around the corner!

Thank you Invisible for your words of encouragement . I know there's something out there for me but it's a matter of discovering what it is .

We have a fellow in our church who has been completely out of work for about a year now. His wife doesn't work. It's rough, but just hang in there! I know I've complained about my job, but I am blessed. I'm good at my job even though sometimes I have way too much to do & can't handle the overload & stress it brings.

We have a fellow in our church who has been completely out of work for about a year now. His wife doesn't work. It's rough, but just hang in there! I know I've complained about my job, but I am blessed. I'm good at my job even though sometimes I have way too much to do & can't handle the overload & stress it brings.
