When I started at Australia Post on Tuesday I didn't know I would be working in the Human Resources Department (something Integrated - the employment agency who sent me - didn't tell me!). To be honest I'll be glad when the month is over. On my first day they had me ringing employers for reference checks for applicants (something I'm not entirely comfortable with - each employer I ring I have to psych myself up each time). Asides from reference checks, I get to do the letters for unsuccessful applicants. That's all I'm doing each day - typing letters and sending them out and reference checks (there isn't a huge amount to do; just a few here and there ) - even then I have to ask the employment/recruitment consultants if there's any work I can do.

Oh, hey, that's not so good, hon! I think that not having enough to do can sometimes be harder to handle than too much. I guess if you can consider this as a 'learning experience' it may help. With the phoning, my lady still doesn't like the phone all that much, but I've helped her to learn how to handle ringing people you don't know - and she's become very good at it! *prayers for Rebecca*

I turned up to work this morning only to be told they didn't need me because I wasn't really suitable for the position (nothing at all to do with performance) - it boils down to Australia Post needed someone who knows the HR business. The agency who sent me was supposed to ring me Friday afternoon to tell me I wasn't needed today. So about ten minutes after I got there I went home.

Hi Invisible . Great to see you. With permanent work, there's plenty out there - it's just a matter of finding a company who will give me a chance to prove that I can do the job. That's how I've gotten most of the jobs I've had before with the exception of my first job.
