powers: Mark can 'manipulate shadows'. essentially he can create spaces in which light energy is simply absorbed, creating 'shadows' which he can set to various light absorbencies. he can also teleport from one shadow to another, (the darker the shadows used the less effort is involved). when in shadow he almost completely disappears, except for his eyes, which glow slightly. (his eyes are visible even in his shadows, which are otherwise impenetrable. he's not sure why. he can also see out of his shadows when he'd inside them, while others cannot. again, he doesn't know why.) he can teleport/darken other things if they are small and very close to him (clothes and small items carried with him.) in combat he generally sets up multiple shadows and uses them for surprise physical attacks, or sets up shadows around people, blinding them; however, since his shadows are centered on locations rather than thingshe has to move them to keep them on someone. he has trouble keeping his shadows centered on someone who moves suddenly and fast. very strong light powers would be required to collapse his shadows, but a physical attack on him will sometimes make him lose his concentration and drop his shadows.
appearance: when not in shadow he has dark brown hair, and light brown skin, with no particularly distinctive features. he's about 5'6", and wiry. when in shadow he and anything else he's wearing/holding seem to disappear. his eyes, the only things visible, appear to glow slightly.
history: Mark was raised by his brother until he was ten. then his brother disappeared, and he took to stealing. when he was about 14 he used his powers by accident, and was getting fairly good at using them to break into places when two gang members caught him stepping into the shadows behind a convenience store. they told him he was one of them, and that they could teach him to use his powers for far more interesting things than robbing convenience stores. he went along, and here he is.
personality: Mark is naturally relaxed and friendly. he's not big on using his initiative, preferring to do as he's told, but he likes most of the people in the gang and would do just about anything for them.
