  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

what do you say for all of the people who believe that people chose to be homosexual?
I disagree with them.
I believe one is born who they are.
Im not a scientest, Im far from brilliant but
from what Ive read I chose to believe the
scientests and physcologists that have said that
one is born Hetero, homo or bi.

What exactly do you guys think is right, if you were gay or bi?
Should you follow your faith and claim and fight against your interests for what society claims is normal, or do you think it is alright to be gay or bisexual?
My, what Sophistry for a 15 year old. How is being gay/bi "their interest" they would be fighting against?

Gays shouldn't beat themselces if tehy can't get "cured", but gay sex is still a sin. being gay is as much as sin as a straight person having "impure thoughts" about someone they aren't married to, very common in males, as a 15 year old should be well aware, Gays are not special for having a desire to commit sexual sin.

If they can change, great, if not well that's what Grace is for.

This isn't really a matter of choosing, that would be of the straight origin.

Your mostly born into who you are, and we all know it's a sin, no matter what. You can't really "change", but I get what your saying.

[My, what Sophistry for a 15 year old. How is being gay/bi "their interest" they would be fighting against?]

By that I meant that I don't think they should be deemed to normality based on societies view on gays/bi's. They shouldn't have to fight against who they like, if it's just a part of them. It's a feeling, and if you have that feeling, well it's a part of you. You can't pick who you like, for the most part, forcing yourself to like someone, but that's a tad bit off topic.

I would just like to hear whether you think it is right or wrong to be gay/bi.
As far as sins go, it's wrong, but the sin for being gay/bi is no different than the sin for anything else, so it should be okay.

I don't understand why you think sin is okay. (Although I don't think being gay is a sin ... but that's a different discussion).

making love isnt a sin. At least not where I come from.
Espeasally not when one is married.
Now...impure thoughts...
We females have them also...they are common in all humans, its called having a sexual fantasy...I dont think a fantasy is a sin.
I dont think God does either...
The point is,is that one is not having sex with anyone except their spouse, whether they are hetero or homo(again here homosexuals are allowed to marry-in the Church).
Making love is not a sexual sin.

It's not necessarily "okay". I was trying to take a shortcut. When I said it was okay, I meant it was okay to be true to yourself, that you are gay/bi, and that it's okay to be that, and we live with sin. Sin is a part of everyday life, so by that, what else are we going to do but live with it? Jesus was put here to save us, and to forgive us, and which that he does, when he is asked for it.
Right?

That there is no evidence to support this strange belief. None.

All (and I mean all) evidence points to sexual oriention being an inborn trait, not a choice, not the result of how one was raised, not dependant on one’s relationship with either gendered parent, not attributable to any psychological condition.

Well what do you say about homo/bi people trying to be straight?
Perhaps one should look at the message of hate and intolerance that a small segment of society projects towards gays and lesbians rather than at the victims of that hatred.

That said…the success rate for such attempts is basically zero. The research in this area has produced individuals who claim to have changed form homosexual to heterosexual however all of these individuals are also employed by ex-gay ministries of one form or another are re basically paid to say that they changed.

You can't blame them for trying to be "normal", but what do you think?
Gays and lesbians are “normal” just like left handed people are “normal, just like people with dark skin are “normal” just like having blue eyes instead of brown is “normal”

I put normal in " "'s to show that society doesn't really claim them to be normal. We all know we are all normal, but many gays/bi's aren't fully accepted, like other people such as left handed people, dark skinned people, or any of that.

I don't think there's anything wrong with being GLBT, or any combo platter thereof... or with being straight, or asexual, or polyamorous, or into patent leather, or any other sexual option consenting adults might engage in. (Note the "consenting adults" there.)

But I'm a godless apostate, so what do I know.

Huh? No, I don't think homosexuals/bis are necessarily that way by choice, if that's wht you're getting at.

By that I meant that I don't think they should be deemed to normality based on societies view on gays/bi's.
I think you mistyped....

They shouldn't have to fight against who they like, if it's just a part of them.
....becasue it's not like people could have bad parts to them? So should the sociopath not fight his urge to treat people as objets? Should frat boys not fight the urge to take advantage of drunk girls?

It's a feeling, and if you have that feeling, well it's a part of you. You can't pick who you like, for the most part, forcing yourself to like someone, but that's a tad bit off topic.
And are all feelings good?

I would just like to hear whether you think it is right or wrong to be gay/bi.
wrong.

As far as sins go, it's wrong, but the sin for being gay/bi is no different than the sin for anything else, so it should be okay.
I am not sure what you mean by "okay". If you mean they should be treated no worse than other sinners, I agree. But its madness to say something is a sin and okay.

making love isnt a sin. At least not where I come from.
Espeasally not when one is married.
I never said that. I said gay sex is a sin.

Now...impure thoughts...
We females have them also...they are common in all humans
Of course.

, its called having a sexual fantasy...I dont think a fantasy is a sin.
Depends who the fantasy is about. If you're married to them, then no its not.

I dont think God does either...
What about that "lust = adultery in heart' verse?"
The point is,is that one is not having sex with anyone except their spouse, whether they are hetero or homo(again here homosexuals are allowed to marry-in the Church).
You honestly think old men with paper and pen can change God's law? Something is sin or not whether the State approves it or not.
So why do people get so worked up about Christian persecution in the mid east and elwhere? If preaching Christianity is illegal, it is therefore immora and they are being justly punishedl. Do you agree?

Making love is not a sexual sin.
What is "making love"? I though it's just a fancy way of saying "sex", which can most certainly be sinful.

Both of those hurt other people. Can you think of one which does not?
