Hasn't he unwittingly cooperated in fulfilling every other prophesy? Why do you think that God is not able to fulfill His Word?
Sounds like a planSo we should not try to live by the Spirit every day of the week? We try really, really hard not to sin on one day of the week and we get to slack off the other days of the week??
Yes, the Sabbath was a day of REST, not worship. There were 3 feast Sabbaths a year where all men were required to present themselves to the temple, but other Sabbaths a person was to rest.
Now Christ is our Sabbath, we rest in Him. Not one day of the week, but every day, at all times. This is legalist doo doo. What if I want to keep EVERY day as holy as I can, and worship God every day in spirit and in truth EVERY day and not just one per week?
I'm an "Everyday Adventist."
Sounds like a plan
Colo 2:14 Blotting out the against us hand-writing to the decrees which was hostile/opposed to us, and has taken away out of the midst, nailing it to the stauros.
OneThatGotAway, thank you for a very solid presentation on the importance of the Sabbath. There will be those who will resist, no matter how reasonable your words, but that won't change the truth of what you say.
What I don't understand is how people who claim to love Jesus can find it so unattractive, the thought that Jesus wants to spend an entire special day with them each week. The Sabbath is not about legalism. It is about a love relationship with our God; it's about being willing to give Him 24 hours of our time exclusively, trusting that He will supply all our needs, in spite of stopping our work on the seventh day; it is about remembering that He is our Creator and that we did not evolve from a single cell over a long period of time.
Keep the faith, OneThatGotAway. I'm with you!
Laodicean,
Thank you for those encouraging words; my sentiments exactly. I would hope that at least one man or woman would take a long hard look at what they have been taught all these years. Hopefully many more will see the mixing of man-made laws with God's laws. And they would return to God's laws instead of man-made laws; with pure love this time.
Do you realize Colossians was written to address the Gnostic doctrines? That same Paul also said to not let any man judge you on your Sabbaths.
Oh, I am quite sure that he included man-made doctrines like those of the Gnostics; however, I believe that he was addressing all man-made traditions and commandments that were against us.
You know NOturtypical.....that "us" who have to guard our very lives against 'them". man!! Pay attention! LOL!!!!
What I want to know is if the sabbath is given to all mankind how is it a special sign to Israel? You can't get any plainer than this...
Mark 2:27
And he said unto them, The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath:
Jesus did not say Israelite or Jew or even children of God, he said man which is from the Greek anthropos - human being.
But of course you already know this and choose to ignore it. Tell me when did Jesus tell us to stop keeping the 7th day Sabbath?
Jesus said rest for your souls and not your body in Matt 11:28-30. I'm wondering what Jesus offered since they basicly as a group were sabbath observant. That's why I call myself a "Seven Days Adventist".
"Sabbath" is simple rest. It's not a special worship day, it's a day of rest.
God should be worshipped every day of the week, in Spirit and in truth. In all we do, think and say.
What I want to know is if the sabbath is given to all mankind how is it a special sign to Israel?
Israel - which we get from the Greek, is originally in the Hebrew, "Yisrael".
Yisrael means, quite literally, "He has striven with God," or "He has been saved by God," based on which translation of "sra" was meant to be used.
"Yi", in the Hebrew, is the masculine form "he". "Sra", in the Hebrew, comes from the Semitic root "Sry", which means "to strive or to save." The word "El," in the Hebrew, is a form of the word for God.
When you see 'el' in any Hebrew name, it is a form of the word for God. See other names such as Ishmael (God has heard), Michael (Who is like God), and Daniel (My judge is God).To better understand which meaning of Sra we are to use, we need to understand the origin of the name Israel. The origins came from Genesis chapter 32 where Jacob struggles with a man all night long until he is blessed. The man asks Jacob's name, then tells him that his name is no longer Jacob, but Israel, because he has striven with God and with man. (Genesis 32:28)
Therefore, we can definitively say that the word 'Israel', based on the Bible, means "He has striven with God."
Jacob (now Israel) became the father of the nation of Israel through his twelve sons - which is why you may hear the phrase, "Children of Israel" referring to the nation itself.
I believe that is what the author of Hebrews was trying to explainThat's why I call myself a "Seven Days Adventist".

There is something I don't understand. Why is it there are people in the Seventh-day Adventist forum who appear to be speaking against 'seventh-day Sabbath keeping'? I don't think it makes any sense, but it could just be my flawed way of thinking.
Has it not occurred to some people that God did not design us to function 7 days a week, 365 days a year every year regardless of how close our relationship is with him?
Sabbath keeping to me has never been about 'legalism.' There are many reasons to keep the Sabbath, none more important than keeping a 'date' day with God. The Bible often likens our relationship with God like that of a marriage. Now in that relationship do they not spend everyday with each other? They may have 5 min in the morning, another couple of hours in the evening with each other, go about their daily business inbetween. These days with mobiles and internet they can even send a text to each other periodically through the day. But more and more we see this relationship disintergrate. Life gets between them and they forget the first love they had at the beginning. They drift apart and divorce becomes the most logical course of action. What was one way to keep their passion alive throughout the years? Continue to have 'dates'. Set some time apart, a day, half a day, whatever works for the two of them for just them to get to know each other all over again. Escape from the pressures of life and get away from reality for perhaps a short time. Remember what it was that brought them together in the first place, make dreams and plans for the future. Get dressed up and make yourself attractive to the other person again. That sort of thing. And if its something that we may need in a marriage relationship with each other, how much more do we need it with God? And if we need to go on a date with God, then how well will the date go if you and God go on different days?
Well that is very interesting.I think the problem comes from our understanding of the word 'Israel'. We tend to think of it as a race of people, the Jews, as only those that came from the line of Jacob(Israel).
We need to look at it as God does. He was the one who named Jacob 'Israel', and we know that names had very significant meanings to them in those days, especially if given directly from God. Here is a 'wiki' explaination that sums up the name very well
In this context, we can see that to be considered a part of the nation of Israel is not a regional or ethnic thing, it is to be striving with God and saved by Him. We strive with Him by our love for Him through our obedience to His Word and to be saved by a belief in His son Jesus as our Saviour who died for us to reconcile us or make a way for us back to the Father. That is why we say we are 'spiritual Israel'... we have been grafted into this covenant through our faith and belief in Jesus. The Sabbath is a special sign for us as God's children just as it was for His children 3500 years ago.
Reading your post makes me wonder if the day matters at all. There is something I don't understand. Wow what a loaded post. They can't but they try to justify their unbeliefs anyway. The Sabbath was giving to Adam which mean man. Elohim wanted us to cease from our every day life to reflect and celebrate creation and Them who created all things! The Jews, Christians and Islamics claim to love Elohim but all three major religions deny the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. They rather believe in the ancient pagan belief in a one monthesitic god. This god is some kind of force and not a being and wonder how it can talk, create or do any thing. Elohim which is plural speaks of Three who work together as One to make man resemble Them. I serve three living Supreme Beings who have mouths, a body, they walk, talk, eat and more. They are Supreme and They are not made up like us and since we have sin we do not look like we were when Adam and Eve were created! When you truly understand the Sabbath then you can truly understand Yahweh, Yashua and the Holy Spirit!
Happy Sabbath,
