Generally speaking you are correct. I might point out that Atheist can be dogmatic as well, but still, you are correct. For me and my theology God is personal to each individual, each child of God, each person who seeks for God. Religious institutions and dogmas are evolutionary, human. My experiences with the Father are personal to me and It would be wrong for me to say you should understand God as I do. Unity not necessarily uniformity.

Yes, people can be dogmatic about atheism, and in that sense it can be very similar to religious belief.

However, I try to keep my arguments on the scientific side of things. And the great thing about science is that I can say, "Then don't take my word for it. Go and see for yourself."

Something which religion has never done.

Yes, we can say the same thing

In fact it's exactly what those who heard the woman at the well did

They didn't just take her word for it but went to see for themselves

You can read all about it in John 4

Hearsay. I can't go and see for myself can I? How do I know that what is written is an accurate account?

I know.

That's why we always have to pwn arguments with, "You were there?"

Yes, you can

Yes, I will travel back in time, go halfway around the world to see if the women really did see it at the well the way it is described in the Bible.

No, I can't. I can't see for myself, can I?

Because the witnesses keep telling you

So, I have a piece of paper SAYING that it is accurate. But I can't verify that the claims written on the paper are correct.

By your logic, I can claim that the Koran is true because it says in the Koran that the Koran is accurate. That's not going to convince you, so why should I be convinced by you when you are using the same flawed logic?

I'll start using that same logic on you then. You claim the Earth was created 6000 years ago? Fine, were you there? Did you see it happen? No, all you have is some book which says it was. Meanwhile, I have real world evidence.

You do? let's see it.

A 4.4 billion year old zircon crystal that scientists confirm was a piece of the Earth's crust? is that what you have?

Or do you have something older you'd like to show us?

There are multiple dating techniques used to determine the age of the earth. The Hebrews creation story wasn't based on facts.

Why?

Why do you have to travel anywhere?

One can seek HIM for themselves today and now

they don't have to go anywhere
That's why there are witnesses today

Because the same thing that made those who had seen the RISEN LORD open their mouths to testify yesterday is the same thing that makes those who have seen The RISEN LORD open their mouths to testify today

Then why do people point to a zircon crystal? why don't they point out this and this and this and that and ... ?

We do but no matter what proof we provide "belief" is stronger. It's like the recent rise in flat earth belief, once pride conspires with suspicion, reaching these people is practically impossible! Radiometric Dating
