I thought it already had shut down some years ago - or am I thinking of something else happening to SETI.

I support their search and what they are trying to do, but I never thought it was a very effective means of doing it (not that I could come up with any thing better).

Maybe the universe has us on IGNORE because of what we did to Pluto.

I'm pretty sure the universe couldn't care less whether we refer to Pluto as a planet or dwarf planet.

Point is still unchanged. Repeating your blather doesn't make it so.
What?

All I'm pointing out is that, now I don't have to go to Pluto myself; I can just ask Mr. Goggleverse here what they think.

I guess one of the consequences of trying to badmouth science at every opportunity is it makes you come across as even more nonsensical than usual.

If believing and teaching Jesus walked on water doesn't incur you guys' disdain for us, I'd say you guys are ... well ... selective.

It's just a matter of degrees, isn't it?

It is indeed - it's not inconsistency on our part that typically raises ire against you, it's yours.

You guys anger easily -- and it's misplaced anger at that.

I'll take advice on anger from someone who doesn't try and smear science at every opportunity while using the fruits of it do so; flames scientists by calling the Pharisees scientists and saying that we would support the antiChrist etc.

And while I'm tap dancing, I'll just tap dance out to the edge of the solar system and ask the Plutonians what they think of Earthlings "recategorizing" them after 76 years.
There are no "Plutonians". If there were, then so what?

Would you really care of some alien race stopped calling earth a "bliznorb" and changed it to "glipnorbzobbit"? Does it actually change what earth actually is?

Did your world come crumbling down around you when you found out a tomato was really a fruit and not a vegetable?

Why do you have such a difficult time understanding these things?

Are you telling me the Pharisees were not the scientists of their day?

Is that what you want me to believe?

Oh, that's right -- they were "ignorant, Bronze Age, goat herders" -- I almost forgot.

No, but if they have us on IGNORE because we plutoed them, I would suggest you have a talk with them -- not me.

No more than they were the bus drivers of their day.

And as always, the real irony is they were a bunch of people who thought their religious interpretations were the right ones and slammed anyone who disagreed with them.

And yet you throw that very well-fitting cap at someone else.

I think SETI shutting down is a good thing. I fail to see where spending so much money on a fruitless enterprise makes any sense when there are plenty of other more valuable enterprises we could concentrate on, such as alternatives to fossil fuels. Even if we found ET's out there... then what? We couldn't visit with them, much less probably communicate effectively with them. By the time their signal reaches us, their civilization might have actually died hundreds of thousands of years ago. It adds no quality to our life, nor does it help us or future generations survive on this planet.

Then we'll need SETI, so if you want us to talk to them, we'll be needing some more tax money.
