Serious Question: Is Free Masonry a continuation of The Knights Templar ?

According to historical records, 54 templars were burned at the stake in France. This, for an order that at its peak could field an army of 30,000 knights. So it's not the case that although the order was extinguished that all the members died.

They were exterminated hundreds of years ago by order of the French monarch. The Pope, who was little more than a puppet of the French monarchy at the time (since the papacy was at the time located in Avignon) signed off on it as well, but it was mostly the French king's doing.
I was somewhat disappointed in the new TV series "Knightfall", which was supposed to show these events. I thought that they would show King Philip IV of France as the cold, calculating, ruthless man he was. His one redeeming quality was his devotion to Joan of Navarre, his one and only wife. The series seemed to distort both of those character traits.

Unfortunately, trying to get an accurate portrayal of these events out of Hollywood is almost impossible. They either run with the false allegations in books like the Davinci Code or attempt to give Christianity a black eye and whitewash the actions of Muslims. The last attempt prior to Knightfall, the movie "Kingdom of Heaven" did a poor job as well by whitewashing Saladin and making the crusaders look somewhat barbaric (although the poor strategic decisions by Guy and Raynauld prior to the defeat at Hattin are a matter of historical fact.)

A little overview video put together by our brother knights in Texas (Overview).

If you are an orthodox Christian by morality and doctrine (Nicene Creed) interested in our mission and joining a fellowship of likeminded believers you may consider making an application to become a postulant.

However, if you should choose to follow this path in life, know that is a lifelong commitment and an oath second only to your baptismal vows and Christian marriage sacrament. In an age where shopping for everything from churches to spouses to houses is commonplace, it is quite different. A sample of the charge given to our vigilants at the time of their knighting:

"The Knight’s Sword is a symbol of justice. Remember that you must fight from this day forward against all things of an evil or malicious nature. You will soon be a defender of the Kingdom of Christ and must repulse all His enemies. You must cut away and destroy corruption as you must adorn and amplify all things of sound and noble nature. By so doing you will be fostering the Kingdom of Christ and molding yourselves in the image of our Blessed Savior, to Whom all glory and adoration be given unto ages and ages, forever."

...and our brothers in France have been kind enough to share footage of an investiture.

God Bless.

Awesome. Thanks for that video. I'm finally starting to get it. Things are starting to make sense.

I've made foolish judgements and spoke on things I didn't really understand in times past. I'm trying to repent from that now and correct my actions.

My father was a 32Degree Mason and from what I know and have studied about the Free Masonry I rejected having anything to do with it as my father did later in life. Each person must judge for themselves.

Kind of an odd question, but I wanted to ask if anyone knows or not if Free Masonry is a Continuation of The Original Knights Templar or is a Military Branch of The Catholic Church.
Freemasonry is contradictive of the Catholic Church. We accept the Knights Templar, as we do other military religious orders, such as the Knights of Malta and the Knights Hospitalier.
