Hello everybody,

I am considering going into full-time ministry. I have been thinking of going to seminary after college (I am currently a sophomore in college). What theological seminary did you go to? Or, if you didn't attend a seminary, do you have any to recommend? I would prefer an Evangelical-minded theological seminary.

I most likely am going to attend Dallas Theological Seminary, or The Moody Bible Insititute after I graduate from here.

I've never been, but I know lots of people that have gone to Calvary Chapel Bible college. It has excellent teaching straight from the word. It's in Southern California. They also have other campuses. www.calvarychapel.com/ccbc/

I am going to Candler School of Theology at Emory University in Atlanta, GA. As this is a United Methodist seminary, it is rooted in Weslyan theology.

Be blessed! <><

Attended Berean University and currently working on my Doctorate with Full Life Bible College.

I suggest lots of prayer and looking around and seeking the face of the Holy Spirit in your quest. If you listen you will not go wrong.

By the way it's the call that makes a pastor not the education.
There are plenty of highly educated people in pulpits that
have no business being there and scores of wonderful Pastors
that have barely graduated High School.

I totally agree with Nehemiah_Center on this one. I've known many pastors that have never been to seminary, but their ministry is blessed by God because He called them and they heeded the call. While these pastors may not know the "Christian-ese", I strongly believe that God wants pastors that can preach to the lost people on the street, not necessarily to the bishops. The bishops know the Word, the lost souls do not.

Our pastor says that he preaches from the back row forward. Most of the people on the front row know the Good News. However, most new visitors tend to sit in the back row.

Look into Concordia Theological Lutheran Seminary in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Here's the website: http://www.ctsfw.edu/. It's not that far from Chicago, so you can get there in probably 6-8 hours from where you are. There is also a major Lutheran seminary in St. Louis you could look into. http://www.csl.edu/. Here is the website for the church: http://www.lcms.org/.

Hello Nehemiah_Center,

I do agree with you 100%, but I know in order to become a pastor of a church, the church will not consider that person if they don't have a degree from a seminary. There is a man I know from one of my Bible classes. He used to be an interim pastor to a church in Birmingham, AL, and he came back to college because the church would not allow him to be the senior pastor because he did not have a degree from a seminary.

I know I am called by God and I think that going to seminary can help me out significantly.

Have a blessed evening,

I would do dallas in chicago or CCBC in southern california,

you want a fundamental bible college that isn't liberal

calvary chapel Bible College is good, moody has been around longer, but then again I don't know allot about moody. The founders of both these Bible colleges were and are extreme evangelists,

Godspeed,

grady

hello, how is school?

again if you still are looking for a seminary try, Dallas Theological Seminary,
I think you need a BA to get in. But I am not positive, I love their theology proffesor Cum lada (what ever it is), Charles Ryrie. He is the theologian of this era for sure, there are many good, but he exceeds by far. (my oppinion of course, if I may humbly say)

Hello, thanks for your help... I am still planning on going to seminary... looking at Denver Seminary and Bethel Seminary. Planning on touring them this summer. Have any of you heard of any pros/cons of these two schools? I am also going to get my BA in Biblical and Theological Studies, was failing out of the business major.
