  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Oh Yeah, I forgot, I am suppose to be making friends and influencing people.

Certainly not. A healthy adversarial relationship is good for the soul, IMHO.

"As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another." --Proverbs 27:17.

Might I suggest that you try to engage in serious educated debate? To that end, you might want to consider:

1. Speaking out on subjects on which you are reasonably educated, or would be willing to learn.

2. Differentiating, at least in your own mind, fact from opinion.

3. Brushing up on common logical fallacies, and learning to abandon a fallacious argument.

4. Accept your own falliablity and limitations, and show a willingness to learn from your mistakes.

5. Taking care how you phrase your statements, so that others do not dismiss you as a fanatic, a lunatic, and/or an imbicile.

So far you're 0 for 5 on these boards.

...just a bit of constructive criticism...

Still wondering, why this whole creationism vs evolution debate is so preeminent in the US and non existent in Europe.

There is some intertesting stuff coming from Europe actually.

I've just been looking at this book for example.

http://www.evolution-is-degeneration.com/start.html

From my experience the places where Christianity is growing (which is not predominantly the US) are places where people tend to believe the words of the NT as they are plainly written.

The NT may not touch on all aspects of YEC directly but if we take the words at face value they do deal a death blow to common descent IMHO (althoiugh there are no doubt fine poeople who will disagree)

They why didn't the theory of evolution go away when it was falsified?

...and you have yet to show how the theory of evolution has been falsified, when it, in fact, has not been.
