As have many atheists who have swallowed the Enlightenment myths as the only way to truly know. or that we can have a morally responsible society with a population that promotes personal preferences for the basic building blocks for morality. Or that saves whales and kills unborn children.

I frequently do secular things and listen to secular music (my favourite band is Sabaton). I see nothing good in being segregated from the majority society because of your religion.

With that said, however, I understand the feeling of wanting to have no part in he secular culture of death. I live in a boarding-school right now, and although I drink quite myself, I feel sick about the way so many here act like rabbits with a rabid dog's mentality. There are nights when I wander around the place watching the heathens, feeling little but disgust and contempt. My feelings for liberal Christians who behave in this way is quite different, I want to punish them but I can't loathe them.

why does everyone have to think you have to listen to christian music...go to christian colleges etc...stay away from secular this or that......cant u go to any regular old college and be a christian....and listen to music without it being labeled christian??? when i go to church or hear people talk and the word secular comes out of there mouth it makes me feel like everythings being segregated ....secular seems like a demeaning title...like how people use to call black people.......colored.

Because many Christians are ignorant, close-minded, and scared of the real world and they think all the "evil-doers" will corrupt us.

Few thoughts here...

1. There is a definite difference in values, morals, ethics, principles, and ideologies between God and the Christian Faith versus The World (the Culture and atheistic Humanism) .

2. The things listed in #1. come out in the form of behavior, actions, talk, attitudes, lifestyle choices, and ones philosophy for living. Essentially, it boils down to : Godliness or Ungodliness .

3. God wants those who desire to have their many accumulated sins forgiven by Christs blood, to live a Newly-created Life from this point forward which is focused on Godly things, values, morals, lifestyle choices, actions, behavior, etc... since the Culture is vehemently opposed to such things . Such a Christian desires to live a life pleasing to God by distancing themselves from immoral and poor influences -- this doesnt mean that CHristians are perfect, but their desires/philosophy/etc.. have been altered to wanting to live an obedient , loving, gratefulness for having sins erased by Jesus, committed life to God and his loving, protective ways which result in happiness, joy, peace, and protection against consequences to making a lifestyle out of Sin .

4. A Christian desires to fill their Minds and Hearts with good things, moral things, and things which promote a fulfilling , enjoyable, noble way of living which are all free from getting bad consequences ...when it comes to what they allow themselves to see, hear, or experience. You see, God is actually for Us being free from the enslavement of sin which always comes with destruction to our lives ; hes not a Joy Killer..but a Joy Promoter to our lives. Hes trying to spare us bringing harm on ourselves which is what the Culture doesnt care about --- the Culture operates on promoting temporary immoral pleasure-fixes usually at great cost eventually. God has a much better way for us..and it results in real joy, peace, fulfillment, gratitude, and meaning to our lives...then it continues on into eternity while we graduate to being in the very presence of our Creator forever and in neverending incredible pleasures and experiences that makes the Cultures idea of pleasures, pale by comparison.

5. This is why (real) Christians are very concerned to stay sexually pure, not allow music to gain control over their thought processes fueling destructive desires, and even desiring a Christian ciriculum for education instead of a secular-biased education which automatically rules out our personal Creator and tries to promote wild imaginations that Natural Causes and Accidents (ad infinitum) could give us all we have for our Cosmos, Planet, and all life forms including a human brain that the finest of Biologists cant begin to duplicate (yet we are made to believe that accidents upon compilations of accidents , could) .

if you really read the NT you will see that Christ broke the law/please dont get mad
e g the law stated that you cannot touch a leper but Christ touched a leper
that is why the pharisees hated Him so much
the real reason we have "touch not , listen not"rules is because we are in a state of sin management and are not understanding what the Gospel really is. Looking to Jesus the author and finisher of our faith. Instead of trying to figure out what to listen to and watch, do a whole lot more just loving Christ and He will give you peace in any thing that is in your life. If there is not His peace, probably not good idea.

Other than saying we follow Christ, telling me what a "real" Christian does is the fastest way to get me to stop taking you seriously.

Christ did not say anything about sexual purity except to convict us that NOBODY is pure, because we sin in our hearts all the time. And he didn't say anything AT ALL about music or education.

He DID have much to say about caring for other people, not judging, and not thinking yourself better than others, though.
