^ i would say that indie rock tends to be more emotionally driven where as pop music relys more on strong, catchy hooks inorder to get people to listen to it. often the words of **** pop music don't even make sense, so that would also cause the genre to depend even more on some pretty good hooks.
to the OP, i'm a christian, and I'd say that i pretty much can't stand modern christian music. it's cheesy. it's bad. it's painful to both listen and worship to. i personally prefer to worship w/traditional hymns, b/c....i don't feel as cheesy singing it.
