To the OP, I have a particular understanding of 'secular' I don't think it can be totalitarian. Related but not the same are secularisation, and secularism. In any case I have grown less afraid of the 'Secular Humanist' bogeyman over the years.
Read more widely if you are searching. You might consider the following writers, I am biased but they have helped me.
William Barrett
Karl Stern
Michael Polanyi
each have studied and thought a great amount before writing - they didn't get it from stones or aliens (interesting as that would be).
If you seek wisdom to stand against the 'secular humanist' bogeyman, I think they will serve you better than the Urantia book.
Also it would be easier to follow these threads if people would not put huge picture files as part of their signature.
