• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Saying that God is an objective basis for morality is not subjective truth. It's not something that I simply just think or made up.

No one said to the otherwise. But a nontheist can and probably will argue to the otherwise.

What is the point in saying that besides just being disagreeable? I could say anything concerning God and obviously a nontheist is going to "argue to the otherwise."

In regards to this thread it highlights why the concept of "seperation of church and state" is important and the importance of why allowing the freedom to create everything from faith based groups to secular student alliances is necessary.

But different people have different definitions of "separation of church and state" (yay for ridiculous postmodern thought) and I have a feeling ours are different.

I've never posted my ideas on it so I'm going to chalk that up as unfounded assumption. And you know what they say about assumption. Also there is a difference between using a cultural catch phrase that is a stand in for the actual language of an Amendment and saying, "That is what it actually reads as." I suggest people not confuse the two or blame that confusion on "postmodernism."

That's a good stance to take. And I know you haven't peered into the depths of philosophy or psychology quite as much in your sociological world, but postmodernism really is to blame for such confusion. And I'm just the type to go out on a limb and make "unfounded assumptions" every once in awhile ;) (Although I'm tempted to say that you are simply making an unfounded assumption that my assumption is unfounded :p)

While at this point, you seem to only be using the knowledge that you have to make yourself seem somehow superior to anyone else that isn't politically correct or obsessed with technicality, I hope that you're also finding ways to use that knowledge to build up other Christians around you in their faith. Otherwise, it's useless.
