I hear the guy who wrote it talk about it one time I don't know if Pete Seagler (spelling) is still alive or not. Man did he write alot of songs. He wrote it after reading it in the book one night. I believe he gave it to Roger Mcgunin (spelling) of the birds.

Roger McGuinn is a Christian. He was the lead guitarist for the Byrds and did a lot of singing, too. I also heard the Byrds play, "Jesus is just Alright."

On a video about the history of Rock, he said that when he played Mr. Tamborine Man, that he did not see it as a dirty song as some secular minds tried to say it was. He saw it as speaking to the Lord to take him and do with his life as He willed. I was impressed.


I believe I also saw Roger McGuinn speak on the 700 Club a good number of years ago.

No, no, no! Pete Seeger is not the Peter in Peter Paul and Mary. And child of the 60s knows full well that the Peter in PP&M is Peter Yarrow. Seeger wrote many songs that PP&M recorded, most notably, If I Had a Hammer.

Peter Seeger wrote a good deal of the sound track for the 60s after having been blacklisted in the 50s for his political views. I believe he is still alive - he would be 89, I think.

That's a song about radical English Reformation sect the Diggers. Billy Bragg did a version of it.

The Weavers and Seeger were investigated by the infamous House Unamerican Activities Committee and Seeger was sentenced to 12 months in prison and his music was blacklisted. His sentence was commuted and his music known worldwide.
