Irrelevant. If God decided to scrap all of the below he could do so and you would have no grounds to object. You already believe in and support a God that allows the permanent torture of people for the 'crime' of being human. How can you get any worse than that?

This is the same God that sacrificed Himself on a Cross so that we could escape the permanent torture! :amen:

God, as a perfect being, demands perfection.
What an absurd demand to impose upon an imperfect creation. Apart from which, believing in Christianity and scapegoating your imperfection onto another does not actually make you perfect.

So how is RDKirk better than me? He made the same concession in Post 64.
I do not know enough about his beliefs. I'll let him speak for himself if he chooses to.

To the detriment of billions that didn't know of the sacrifice, had no reason to believe it or preference it or found it absurd. To hell with them apparently.

An incoherent solution that resulted in the permanent torture of billions and billions of people.

I'm calling an end to this. I'm certainly not budging, and I'm getting tired of the incessant back and forth.

Have a great day, and no hard feelings! I'll be praying for you brother!

Yes, and I note that you have completely ignored my response to your 'Abraham-didn't-attempt-to-kill-Isaac-out-of-obedience nonsense. Shall I draw my own conclusions?

One of my main issues with Christianity.

Send Jesus to die to save everyone and 2/3 of the world's population don't buy it and they are doomed, according to most Christian theology.

Seems like a failed experiment to me.

It's quite ironic how religious believers talk endlessly about goodness, virtue, morality and so forth--and yet they always seem quite content with the suffering of billions of people (some of whom they've known and liked) in hellfire for eternity.

And they really don't see why any of us are offended by their condescending, yet self-righteous attitude about all of it.

They truly don't even see the hypocritical nature of their beliefs. On the one hand, they call themselves sinners who are imperfect and merely depend on Christ's saving them, or God's mercy.

On the other hand, they look on others with judgment, contempt, and amusement--becuse we are all going straight to hell and they think they're on a rocket ship to heaven.

Non-believers genuinely struggle with questions of ethics and morality, trying to come to terms with how to live better lives, how to care for all people, how to create a more just and fair society. They want the most people to have the most rights.

Believers are primarily concerned with THEIR rights, their rituals, their beliefs. They scoff at the millions who believe in other deities or who don't believe.

It really is ridiculous how these religious folk assert their superiority at every step, whilst refusing to take any responsibility for their own beliefs--choosing instead to cast themselves as simply obeying God.

How nice for you. What a lovely dodge, one that many atheists and agnostics have refused to use, although we could.

But please do enjoy your little fantasy about the big bearded man in the sky looking down on you and favoring you with his love. Because its just that--a fantasy and your superiority is also imaginary.

Enjoy it while it lasts.

We're not unable to avoid it . . . we just have a burning desire to plunge head first into it.

Hey, I'm just going by your previous example of worship a person who set it up so that a blind man about to fall into a pit he was unable to avoid. If the story is different, why bring up that example in the first place?

But in any case, you're now saying we can just choose to avoid being punished. OK, fair enough. Guess I don't need Jesus then since I can choose on my own what to do.
