It's quite ironic how religious believers talk endlessly about goodness, virtue, morality and so forth--and yet they always seem quite content with the suffering of billions of people (some of whom they've known and liked) in hellfire for eternity.
And they really don't see why any of us are offended by their condescending, yet self-righteous attitude about all of it.
They truly don't even see the hypocritical nature of their beliefs. On the one hand, they call themselves sinners who are imperfect and merely depend on Christ's saving them, or God's mercy.
On the other hand, they look on others with judgment, contempt, and amusement--becuse we are all going straight to hell and they think they're on a rocket ship to heaven.
Non-believers genuinely struggle with questions of ethics and morality, trying to come to terms with how to live better lives, how to care for all people, how to create a more just and fair society. They want the most people to have the most rights.
Believers are primarily concerned with THEIR rights, their rituals, their beliefs. They scoff at the millions who believe in other deities or who don't believe.
It really is ridiculous how these religious folk assert their superiority at every step, whilst refusing to take any responsibility for their own beliefs--choosing instead to cast themselves as simply obeying God.
How nice for you. What a lovely dodge, one that many atheists and agnostics have refused to use, although we could.
But please do enjoy your little fantasy about the big bearded man in the sky looking down on you and favoring you with his love. Because its just that--a fantasy and your superiority is also imaginary.
Enjoy it while it lasts.
