Searching for answers

I feel somewhat lost in my life at the moment, and I'm looking for a greater sense of direction. I agree with most (if not all) of what Christianity stands for, and the more I learn, the more I agree. I've considered myself agnostic for years, but this was mostly because I didn't feel I had enough knowledge to commit myself to any particular religion.

I grew up in a home with non-practicing Christians. We hardly ever attended church, and there was very little discussion of religious matters. I am interested in learning more about Christianity now because I keep coming up against difficult value questions. I don't have anyone to discuss these things with in my normal life, and I would probably feel too embarrassed in most cases anyway.

This looks like an active forum, so I hope I can learn something.

Seek truth. The Bible says that those who seek truth will find it. Don't get caught up in the denominations and religiosity of faith. Ask God to reveal Himself to you, and he will. It may not come immediate, as there may be something else for you in the search. It may not come easy, as God may build faith through trial.

Thirty-five years ago, My dad read an article where it said the only way to find true happiness in life was to find God's will and to do it. Disillusioned by different religions and social trends of the day, he prayed to whomever, that God's will be found and he be empowered to do it. He was alone and an entire country away from family. He was a door-to-door salesman, and God placed him in a community where those who answered shared Christ with him every day. It came to a point, walking past a church, where my father stopped, sat on the step, and yelled, "God, if I reject you now, I am rejecting you forever. Come into my life." Seconds later, the church doors opened and the pastor, wondering what the commotion was. He led my father to Christ right there.

Seek truth. God is truth. He promises that ALL who seek will find.
