Google, because I grew up on Google and am used to everything.

Though it irritates me a lot when it gives me completely irrelevant results to my search terms, and I'm pretty sure the company has morphed into a giant supervillain who is currently too lazy to use its power for evil deeds.

Kind of like a supervillain cat or something.

you mean like search suggestions?

add this: /webhp?complete=0
at the end (bit long, but it helps) and it get rid of the suggestions.

search bubble. it actually keep tracks of your search history, iirc.
so, say if you search Iraq:
for a person who is interested in backpacking and travel, the result will yield travel destinations and deals

for someone who is into politics and war and such, the result will yield war on Iraq and politial unrest....

something like that.

I'm not sure what "search suggestions" are? Is that the "Did you mean..." thing? I'm talking about when I search something like "litter training a cat" and I get "got a ticket for littering... yeah, adopted a new cat today... going to train at gym" and things of the like in each result for pages and pages instead of how to actually litter train a cat. Not an actual search I've done but an explanation of how angry I get when I search things sometimes.

And I actually meant how Google is basically mapping out the entire earth, linking our online accounts to our real names, and basically amassing knowledge of everything/everyone when I made the supervillain comment. I am not sure what "searchbubble" is?

oh, different thing entirely, then. i meant that auto generated stuff that pops below your search box when you typed in a few words... it tries to guess what you are searching for and lists the result for you. so you do not have to type "litter training cat", and could maybe simple type "litt" and there will be some results for you to choose from.

yea. i am not really liking that, either.

I am not sure what "searchbubble" is?

humm... it is a set of data that are generated according to your browsing habit. in a way, it filters out unnecessary things that you would otherwise not look at on a specific topic. it also will better ad agencies to spam you with products that may interest you.

Google defaults to an "or" search so it's just looking for those words; having them together will up their relevancy score, but it doesn't necessarily look for proximity. If you run into that problem, try enclosing a phrase of the search or the full search in quotes, e.g.

"Litter training" cat
"cat litter training"
"cat litter-training"

You'll get a lot more relevant answers because it will search for those phrases rather than individual words.

I think by "search suggestions" she means the drop-down suggested autocomplete for searching. These are sometimes useful because they probably mean there's a good hit for the topic.
