NeverADullMoment is Adventist, she just considers herself "Christian first". Put your cursor over her icon.

Nobody has commented on all my cute emoticons! <pouting>

They ARE adorable. Wherever did you get them? I have tried free emoticon sites before, but for some reason, I end up having to "remove them", they always cause trouble with my system...

I think you and I came into this one late in the game. There does appear to be someone sporting the Adventist icon that doesn't believe in one thing the church teaches. I just wish people would call him out by name so people like you wouldn't think you were the one being discussed. However, I'm sure there are rules against calling him out by name too, so we'll have to make the best of it.

Stormy, trust me, it's not you. I think if you take the time to go back and read the threads, all the way through, it will become very clear, very quickly.

The seal of God is IN the forehead, therefore not visible even if it were a physical thing – which it isn’t.

There are three reasons why the Holy Spirit cannot be God's Seal:

Reason 1:
Revelation 7:2-3 - And I saw another angel ascending from the east, having the seal of the living God: and he cried with a loud voice to the four angels, to whom it was given to hurt the earth and the sea, Saying, Hurt not the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees, till we have sealed the servants of our God in their foreheads.
Revelation 14:1 - And I looked, and, lo, a Lamb stood on the mountSion, and with him an hundred forty and four thousand, having his Father's name written in their foreheads.
Revelation 22:4 - And they shall see his face; and his name shall be in their foreheads.

Read these verses carefully. These three verses tell us two important pieces of information; what the seal is (Father’s name) and where it is placed (in the forehead). The seal of God is simply the Father's name written in your forehead. We have these verses that say it clearly, distinctly, and without any sort of interpretation needed. It might as well say "2+2=4".

Reason 2:
Ephesians 4:30 - And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.

What does the conjunction whereby mean? The dictionary defines it this way: by, through, in accordance with which, or how. I'll use some other translations to further verify what Eph 4:30 is saying:

And do not give grief to the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were marked for the day of salvation. (BBE)

and make not sorrowful the Holy Spirit of God, in which ye were sealed to a day of redemption. (YLT)

So we find that it is the Holy Spirit that does the sealing, not that the Holy Spirit is the seal itself. We must be sure we are being precise in our thinking and reading so that we are sure we don’t make subtle errors.

Reason 3:
The Holy Spirit bestows gifts to believers (Hebrews 2:4) but we also know that not everyone who has the Holy Spirit is going to heaven (Matthew 7:22) – only those with the Seal of God are going to heaven (the whole book of Revelation). As such, the Holy Spirit itself cannot be the Seal of God.

I saw an answer above (I can't see who it was while I'm typing this) but it said "our thoughts" are the seal of God. Brother or sister, I would agree that our thoughts/decisions will be the deciding factor in whether we get the Seal of God or not (for we must decide who we are going to follow, God or the beast) - but I don't see anywhere in scripture that says our thoughts are the seal. In fact, we see that people get sealed - via the Holy Spirit - not that our thoughts constitute the seal itself. Our decision to follow God must come first (for we do have freedom of choice that God never interferes with), then we receive His seal.

Does this make sense? If not, I ask you respond but please include scripture with your answers.

You are absolutely correct, brother, I remember where I heard this very explanation before now, though I couldn't do that yesterday try as I might. I had part of the answer right, it is "God". LOL

Your knowledge and the sharing of it with pinheads like me, is TRULY appreciated. LOL

No, no - there are no "pinheads" here, and certainly not you Sassy. I think that sometimes after we read a particular verse many times that we start to become a little "numb" (if you will) to the subtlies of the text - i.e. we read it too fast. I've caught myself doing that many times and have had to pull back on my own reins - that way I spend more time on each word of each verse. Sometimes I've found it helpful to re-read a verse over and over again before the answer comes to me. Of course, it is always possible to over-analyze a verse and thus miss the clear and simple meaning it conveys.
