Funny how for the "good" of the majority, the few are persecuted.
Only it's not persecution by any stretch of the means......
....It's the SDA's in this case attempting to impose their will on other people.

Impose? So it's ok for them to impose their will on the SDA students, and completely disregard their beliefs? Yeah, that makes complete sense.
I wonder if the sentiment would be the same if it was any other groups beliefs being infringed upon? Muslims, Jews, etc....
Funny you didnt seem to have a issue when Roman Catholicism 'imposed its will', on the Waldensians, Huguenots, etc......Only it's not persecution by any stretch of the means......

From what I know Jews don't attempt to eat at non-Kosher places and after ordering food.....
....Squeak about the food having pork in it - and demand the establishment make it Kosher.
....I'm not even sure Muslims do that.

I'm sure in his mind, the trouble makers had it coming....
Yeah, they are still heretics officially. So...
It's extraordinary that people can not see the difference between taking a test on Sabbath, and tending to the sick on Sabbath. A reason given is that Sunday is not a "popular" day for testing--majority rules. God is not into "Majority rules"--His word is the final word--no votes. Are the sick in the hospitals not to be fed, given water, helped with their bathroom needs, linnen changed when soiled?--you can help an animal in trouble on the sabbath according to Christ, but according to the "majority" the sick and helpless should not be tended to as that would make us hippocrites!! What a bunch of hot air. If you removed all dr's from being dr's who can not take their tests on Saturdays---the shortage of dr's would be amazing--that eliminates all Jewish dr's also. So, do Sunday keepers not take care of the sick on Sundays?? If we are breaking the Sabbath by tending to the sick on Sabbath, then they must be breaking their Sabbath by tending to the sick on Sundays. But I'm sure no one would object to taking their tests on Sundays--Since it doesn't matter what day you keep, then they should be willing to take their exams on Sundays, All Catholic hospitals are up and running on Sundays--nobody complaining about that. I wonder--in Israel, there are medical universities--are their exams on Sundays?? Accoeding to these dispensers of profound wisdom then anyone who is not willing to take their exams on Sundays, has no business being a dr.

If caring for the sick is OK on your Sabbath, why isn't taking a test on the Sabbath, which is required to allow you to care for the sick, be OK?
It's an act of love for humanity to care for the sick; it's not an act of love to fulfill a curricular requirement.
People should be given the right to take an exam on another day if it conflicts with their religious convictions.
You truly can't see the difference between an exam and helping the sick? It's a work, a study a test of your knowledge--it's not helping anyone at that time and can be done at any other time. Let's just change the exams all to Sundays--it doesn't bother anybody that way--including you!! There are children in grade schools who, often inspite of their parents demanding they go o school or take an exam on Sabbath, will not do so--and at times have been beaten for it (in other countries, mostly). They can understand the difference, and you can't??
You could argue that you need money to go to school - and so working as plumber even on Sabbath to earn money to keep you in med school is "healing the sick" and on and on it goes.
In the end - furthering your career is not "healing the sick".
And a life of compromise on this subject does not make it easier to stand firm on the Sabbath when future tests arrive.
in Christ,
Bob
No question I agree that students should be allowed to take the test on a day that wouldn't offend their religion.
If atempts to change the day of the test have failed and there is no other alternative, what would be wrong with taking the necessary test on the Sabbath to allow the helping of the sick? Taking the test would be just another part of the process of healthcare.
