  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hi All,

Please check the following scriptures:

1.Mathew 24:10-13.....it very clearly highlights people can give up their faith through deception of false teachings...people's faith can grow cold etc....ONLY THE ONE WHO ENDURES TO THE END WILL BE SAVED!

2. Another example is Acts 8:9-24...Simon being baptized as an adult believer....and yet being a prisoner of sin......Peter warns him and asks him to repent.

3. Another example....is Acts 5:1-11...Ananias and Sapphira....were believers...baptized as adults I guess...yet sin in their life...cost them dearly!

In light of the above scriptures....doesn't the concept of "once saved always saved" contradict scriptures? Dont we have to work out our salvation like Paul taught.

Hi All,

In light of the above scriptures....doesn't the concept of "once saved always saved" contradict scriptures? Dont we have to work out our salvation like Paul taught.

I have seen this battle time and again. As to my opinion based on studies, Salvation comes from Faith alone. Whosoever will believe shall be saved.

Your sins at that moment are gone and you are the new man, in Christ.
But….
Consider that all will be judged
Therefore there must be a possibility that we can fall from grace. The elect are already chosen.

My friend, Jesus taught in John 15:1-6 that only those who remain in Him will be saved. Notice He twice in those verses teaches that branches that do not produce fruit are cast away from the Father, because they did not remain in Him. I believe a clear warning against apostasy. Also Jesus teaches in Matthew 10:33 that if we deny Him on Earth, He will in turn deny us in Heaven. Well if you read Titus 1:16 Paul teaches that we can deny Jesus by how we act in life, by our deeds. There's so many more, Jesus telling the church in Sardis (Rev 3:5) He won't erase the names from the Book of Life of those who are victorious in life, implying that names can be erased. If you read Rev 21:8, God the Father is warning that believers who do those things will be cast into Hell, we know He is referring to believers because part of that list is unbelief. If all actions referred to unbelievers here, why include all others? Lastly, Paul warned the Corinthian Church if they obeyed their flesh they would not inherit Gods Kingdom (1 Cor 6:9-10) Please read these passages too: Hebrews 2:1-4, 3:7-19, 6:4-6, 10:26-31; 2 Peter... But I agree, I used to believe in "once saved always saved," but have since come to realize that is giving people a license to sin because they can do nothing to lose their eternal reward and it's unbiblical...
