Blessed Hands

The Lord looked down from the heavenly place,
And searched the whole world through
For those who were working in love for Him,
And he found but very few.
Said the Lord: "They shall labor not in vain
Though the earth is dark with woe,
I will strengthen the hands of them that toil,
I will bless the fields they sow."
~Bertha D. Martain~

The Life That Counts

The life that counts must hopeful be,
in darkest night make melody.
Must wait the dawn on bended knee--
This is the life that counts.

The life that counts is linked with God.
And turns not from the cross--the rod,
But walks with joy where Jesus trod--
This is the life that counts.
~Pjc. Elbridge Walker~

In 1974, our whole family was crammed into an Oldsmobile for the move from california to Arizona. At 11a.m. on July 12, the engine blew 273 miles from Tucson (I knew this because the sign taunted me for two days). With little money and no hope close by, my stepdad had no choice but to hitch to Yuma where a friend could get us a ride home. That left my mom and six kids sitting in a car for 18 hours. Strangers helped on both sides of this trial - my stepdad got almost nonstop rides to Yuma, and we were given water from people stopping by. When we told folks we couldn't repay their generosity, they told us to pass it on.

In May 1994, I was just out of the Army and heading to south Texas when I passed a disabled car on the highway. The driver was a young Marine still in uniform and his wife and newborn child. I turned around, got them a wrecker and a motel room out of my discharge money. When the Marine tried to get my address to repay me as he could, I told him words that I'm sure have the Lord's approval: Just pass it on.

God's given us a wallet without a bottom or credit limit. In it is abounding love, meant to be given freely and joyfully to the people in our lives, all of them. So, if you feel loved today, by all means, pass it on.

It's About You Lord.
It's You.
You!
attachment.php

Allelujah! What's He to yah?
He's our everything.
Let's worship Him.
Let's Praise Him.
Let's sing out, "Jesus Christ our King."

attachment.php

O Jesus,
You are our everything.
We love You.
We adore You.
You are our God. You are our King.
You are our Lord.

Our everything.

We Lift up Your name Jesus.
We'll shout it everywhere we go.
We'll let all the world know.

We will shout:
"Come on and Lift Him up.
Lift high our God.
He makes our life complete.
Come worship at His holy feet.

Ask for His grace.
Learn to seek His face.
Come on and lift Him up."

We've got a reason to shout.
We've got something to talk about.
We've got a reason to shout.
We've got You Jesus.
We've got Your joy way down in our hearts,
Down in our hearts
today.

O Jesus,
Be Thou our vision.
O Lord of our hearts,
Who takes away our sin
And gives us new starts.
Thou and Thou only are
first in our hearts.

O Jesus. . .
Be Thou our vision
And send us on Your holy mission.
Fill us up O Lord divine.
Not our will, but Thine.
Fill us with Your power.
Send down from heaven Your fire.
Keep it falling down.
Let Your spirit abound.

You are all we need.
We will let You lead.
Set our spirits free.
It's about You.
It's You. Only You.

You make our lives complete.
We will worship at Your feet.
It's about You.
It's You.
Only You.

O Lord
You are our existance.
We offer no resistance.
It's about You.
It's You.
Only You.

We Praise You Lord.
You keep us on our feet.
In You O Lord we know not defeat.

All of our days Lord
in Loving worship to You.
For all of our days
We are forever true
In you.
Only You.

Amen
~K.P. Kim~

This is what I've been feeling lately!
Rejoicing and singing glory, glory, glory.
We are spirit filled right now.
Allelujah.

The Top of the Hill is in Sight

You know, O Lord, the desires of my heart
Wisdom and knowledge to me impart
I long to serve you and do your will
Help me to climb this long steep hill

When I reach the long awaited top
And behold your wonders as I stop
Renew my strength, my faith, my zeal
Let me once more your presence feel

Let your great love envelope me
And your glory and power let me see
The valley has been deep and drear
Your sweet voice I long to hear

When you deliver me from this wilderness
I will tell others of your love and faithfulness
This wilderness time has not been in vain
Sweet fellowship with you I did gain

Valleys and hills are all a part of life's plan
So we can learn to trust Jesus, not man
The top of the hill is in sight
How I rejoice, I have fought the good fight

You have set the times and the seasons
For the valleys you have your reasons
Thank you, O Lord, for your wise ways
You know the number of our days

What a wonderful thread! :clap: Thank You, L-rd, for bringing it all together! :bow:

I am blown away by how so much of what I've been reading speaks to me on so many different levels. I wouldn't know where to begin to comment. So I just want to say a heartfelt Thank You to all of you who have shared here! :hug:

Yours in Yeshua,

I have been writing poems for a while now. It has been the way the L-rd has helped me to face and work through and overcome situations and experiences. I firmly believe it is one of the primary reasons he has blessed me with this ability. Another is to be more cognizant of His many facets. :bow:

The following was inspired by the story of Creation after a picnic with another congregation.

I SAW THE LORD

I saw the Lord today:
In the delicate-patterned wings of a butterfly
Floating by in search of flowers;
In the soft pastel fingers of sunrise,
The clear star-speckled sky of night,
And in the warm smiles of friends in greeting.

I heard His voice
In the natural lilting disharmony of birdsongs
Performing an unrehearsed symphony;
In the stillness of sleeping meadows,
The base-drum roll of thunder's warnings,
And in the innocent laughter of children at play.

I felt His presence
In the dew-scented freshness of early morning
Washing the earth clean for day;
In the frosted pine-perfumed forests,
The sweet rain-rinsed mountain air,
And the wonderful welcome of Sabbath candles.

Again and again I found Him
Filling all my senses with His wonders;
And I couldn't help but thank Him
For their infinite variety,
For the opportunity to enjoy and rejoice in them.
And somewhere, deep within,
I felt Him answer.

This popped into my head while reading Psalm 113.................

I am the Lord of extremes. I am the pinnacle.
I cast those who are against me to the furthest reaches of darkness.
My standard is perfect.
One mark left against you and you are forever cast from my presence.

I am the Lord of extremes.
You would say, “Mine is a God who loves”
I am not just a God who loves,
But a God that is Love.
I not only cast out fear.
I am the opposite of fear.

I am the Lord of Extremes
When I chose you,
I chose you from the beginning of time.
When I raise the poor and needy from the dust,
I do not raise them to mediocrity.
I do not raise them to settle back into the dust.
I raise them to be princes and princesses in my kingdom.
To be called by me is a call to live life to the extreme.

Thank you Christian soldiers for sharing your poetry. Your poetic compositions speak to my soul.

Know that your expression of God in poetry is God speaking through you. He speaks to me through your ballet of Spirit-filled words. Thank you for filling up His spirit within.

I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.
(John 10:11)

I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine.
(John 10:14)

The King Of Love My Shepherd Is

St. Columba

The King of Love my Shepherd is,
Whose goodness fails me never;
I nothing lack if I am His,
and He is mine forever.

Where streams of living water flow
With gentle care He leads me,
And where the verdant pastures grow
With Heav'nly food He feeds me.

Perverse and foolish I have strayed
But yet in love He sought me,
and on His shoulder gently laid,
and home, rejoicing brought me.

In death's dark vale I fear no ill
With You, dear Lord, beside me,
Your rod and staff my comfort still,
Your Cross before to guide me.

You spread a table in my sight,
Your saving grace bestowing;
And O what joy and true delight
From Your pure chalice flowing!

And so through all the length of days
Your goodness fails me never;
Good Shepherd, may I sing Your praise
Within Your house forever.

Why did shepherds carry a rod and a staff?

The rod was a weapon to use against predators (wolves and lions), and the staff has a crook at the end to catch sheep that were going into dangerous places, by dragging them back by catching them around the hind leg. So the rod and staff keep us safe from predators and from our own wrong-headedness as we heedlessly go into dangerous situations.

Be Thou our vision, O LORD of our hearts;
Naught be all else to us save as Thou art.
Thou our best thought, by day or by night,
Waking and sleeping, Thy presence our light.

Jesus, O bless these, our women of God;
Break through their darkness and bring them Your dawn.
Heal their sad spirits, Your light in them rise;
Guard them in Glory; awake to their cries.

Water our gardens with Your Gentle Grace;
Strengthen our bones and build up our faith;
Raise us to feed and to care for the poor;
Rebuild our homes; with Your Mercy restore.

Be Thou our vision, Your people renew;
Bonds of injustice we shall break through;
Yokes of oppression O help us to free!
God of Great Glory Your Spirit we’ll see.

Based on Isaiah 58:1-12; words to last three stanzas written by Pamela Short
(Music found in Hymnal: A Worship Book 545)

I was reading Ecclesiastes and the Lord had me write this poem based on Eccl 7 v 13:

"Consider the work of God: for who can make that straight, which he hath made crooked".

Crooked Paths

I was happily strolling along a broad straight road
I was whistling and singing because of my light load
Things were going my way and the path was clear
I was having a really great and wonderful year

The first sign of trouble was that little bump I felt
I stopped a few minutes and to my knees I knelt
I prayed the Lord would flatten that little bump
Or give me the strength and grace to over it jump

I conquered that bump and went merrily on my way
Little did I realize what obstacles in my path lay
But I knew the Lord had ordained my life's path
The number of trials I left to him, I'm not good at math

My path became murky, boggy and filled with crooks
Refuge I took in my Bible, the great book of books
Danger lay up the middle, to the left and to the right
Sometimes my path was dark as the blackest night

Can I make straight the crooked path laid by the King
Or change the course of scenery that detours bring
That is why I say unto you who are in a crooked place
Trust in Jesus our Lord who authors our life's race

Sure I would like to be on a broad and clear path
And never experience the storm's powerful wrath
But how would I know that the Lord delivers and mends
Smooths the rough road and straightens those bends

Those crooks in the road are a blessing in disguise
Gives strength to the weak and wisdom to the wise
At the end of this crooked road I will lay down my load
Enter into his rest and with him I will ever abode

Be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility for God resistith the proud, and giveth grace to the humble. (1 Peter 5:5)

icon6.gif

The world, I thought, belonged to me -
Goods, gold and people, land and sea -
Where'er I walked beneath God's sky
In those old days my word was "I."

Years passed; there flashed my pathway near
The fragment of a vision dear;
My former word no more sufficed,
And what I said was -"I and Christ."

But, O, the more I looked on Him,
His glory grew, while mine grew dim,
I shrank so small, He towered so high,
All I dared say was - "Christ and I."

Years more the vision held its place
and looked me steadily in the face;
I speak now in humbler tone,
And what I say is - "Christ alone."

We tread life's upper road when we walk humbly with our God.
~Mrs. Charles E. Cowman~

reminds me of this . . .

Oh, the bitter pain and sorrow
That a time could ever be,
When I let the saviour's pity plead in vain,
and proudly answered
“All of self, and none of Thee.”
All of self, and none of Thee,

Yet He found me; I beheld Him
Bleeding on th’ accursed tree,
Heard him pray 'Forgive them Father'
And my wistful heart said faintly,
“Some of self, and some of Thee.
Some of self, and some of Thee."

Day by day His tender mercy,
Healing, helping, full and free,
Soft, and strong and ah, so patient
Brought me lower while I whispered,
“Less of self, and more of Thee.
Less of self, and more of Thee."

Higher than the highest heaven,
Deeper than the deepest sea,
Lord, Thy love at last has conquered:
Grant me now my supplication
“None of self, and all of Thee.
None of self, and all of Thee"

Theodore Monod
