no iam asking what does the bible say on translation of it. ( i.e is it authoritative etc.)

The bible says nothing about translating it because the bible - in general - as we've known it for hundreds of years wasn't a collective work when the books contained in it were penned.

well what should we make of translations then are they the written word of God? How could we call a translation that?

Psalms 12:6-7
The words of the Lord are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of the earth, purified seven times. Thou shalt keep them, O Lord, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever.

The Bible doesn't command anything about translations, but it does give us an interesting example. Jesus used the Septuagint, which is the Greek translation of the Old Testament. He obviously saw the need to use a translation that the people understood. By the way . . . it's not a perfect translation either.

I have a nice leather-bound copy of Benjamin Franklins Autobiography produced by Easton Press almost 200 years after his time. It is in English. However are the copies that were translated into French not the words of Benjamin Franklin as well? They are still the words of Benjamin Franklin if translated correctly.

The Bible is the Word of God, even in English.
