• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I need a lot of prayer for strength and courage. Since I became a Christian I've grown a lot and have done a lot of praying and a lot of searching, I know that I don't have all the answers, but it seems like life keeps getting at me.

I'm neither liberal nor conservative, because what God has revealed to me through scripture is kind of scattered upon that invisible divisional line between the two.

Whenever I explain my beliefs it feels like the whole world turns against me. It happens online and in real life, and it's like being completely alone. I understand that people are going to disagree, but it always feels like I'm the one who because I think that everyone should have an open-minded attitude that basically is more like "I will think about what you've said" and obviously not everyone does.

Anyways, like I said, it just feels like everyone and everything is against me. I feel utterly and completely alone in the world, and I can't even find a place online to feel accepted. Heck, I can't even make friends online :cry:and it's just really getting to me. So I guess I could just really use some prayers. I need to find some way to grow mentally, physically, and spiritually, and I'm just really having a hard time finding the strength to go through it.

Hello there,

Hmm.. I know the feeling about political battlefield. Well I see you have a problem in looking for acceptance. Don't let others opinions or behaviors dictate how you feel about yourself or what you believe. When you accept their critism or when they upset you, then they have power over you now. If they don't like your company or can't have a fun dicussion or debate then let it go and walk away. Or stand strong in what you believe and fortify it with biblical truths.

Take this for example. God wants us to be righteous and just. He told us that you can tell if someone is evil or good, by the fruits they produce.

Matthew 12:33-37

33 “A tree is identified by its fruit. If a tree is good, its fruit will be good. If a tree is bad, its fruit will be bad. 34 You brood of snakes! How could evil men like you speak what is good and right? For whatever is in your heart determines what you say. 35 A good person produces good things from the treasury of a good heart, and an evil person produces evil things from the treasury of an evil heart. 36 And I tell you this, you must give an account on judgment day for every idle word you speak. 37 The words you say will either acquit you or condemn you.”

How a person speak and their fruits will help you know what type of tree they are. Also from another perspective, look closely at public policy, programs, and political views the same way. Do they produce good fruit or bad? Give prosperity and uplift people or keep them dependant on the government? They go along side biblical principle or against it?

hey...I'll be your friend! I don't really care what you believe, we all need friends. you could be a satan lover and I'd still be your friend...I don't much care as long as you're nice. I'm not exactly in any sort of specific part of the christian spectrum, I think we need all parts to gain a view of the whole part. I attend four churches and believe things that get me in trouble often...

Aw  I used to feel like that all the time when I would present my beliefs on things online and such. I still have the feelings of everyone being against me since I'm an atheist in the middle of the bible belt. I like to remain open minded on many things, though. I'm always here if you want to chat or anything. :)

Aw, SB, I'll be your friend, too.

Like you, not everyone accepts everything I say, but that's okay. They can be their own person, and I'll be mine. :)

On beliefs--what I finally did was to start reading the bible through for myself. I wanted to see what it said, not what people told me it said. As I read from day to day I realized that what the bible said was different from what I had been taught. I became angry. Then I acted on my anger in a good way. I resolved that I would never accept any doctrine or belief unless I could find it in the bible in at least two or three places. I also was determined to always look at context, and at related scriptures on the same topic.

That was more than 30 years ago. Since that time I have read the bible through many times. I always marvel at how good God is, and how His word flows together.

Okay, so I'm telling you all of this to say this. Guess what, my beliefs are not accepted by some Christians, either. But it doesn't matter. I know that what I believe is backed up in scripture. I also have seen the fruit of walking with God these many years of my life.

And guess what? God brought me friends who believe the same way I do.

God is so good. He accepts us just as we are. He loves you, just as you are.

And if you need a friend, I am here
