My job is to love God with my whole heart soul mind and strength and my neighbor as myself. God's job is to help me do just that as I turn to him in faith.
Knowledge and love of God is salvation.
Orthodox Jews who reject Jesus Christ claim such.

But according to Romans 3:25, faith in and trust on the atoning sacrifice of Jesus Christ is the criteria for remission of sin, which is salvation--from God's wrath (Romans 5:9) and condemnation (Romans 5:18).

I don't care what anyone claims. That's what we're supposed to do. And only God knows with 100 % certainty how well we've done it. That's basic Christianity, and anyone who believes otherwise has allowed themselves to be confused about the role of faith..

All the thief on the cross had to do was to admit his way (which followed the will of man and not God) was worthy of punishment, while Jesus' way (which put the will of the Father first) was not. Jesus was not even dead and sacrificed yet the thief (unlike his partner) was saved because he put another's needs ahead of his own instead of seeking gain at another's expense. That has always been the will of the Father for mankind.

What we are supposed to do for salvation is found in John 3:18 and Romans 3:25; i.e., believe in and trust on the person and atoning sacrifice (blood) of Jesus Christ.

According to Jesus, the thief was saved because he believed Jesus was who he said he was--John 6:40, John 3:15-16, John 3:36.

That's the stifled version of the gospel. Also included are those things that a steadfast relationship with God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit should lead to: obedience of the commandments, Matt 19:17 and Rom 2:13, doing good, Matt 25:31-46 and Rom 2:7, being holy, Heb 12:14, being sanctified, Rom 6:21-22, putting to death the deeds of the flesh, Rom 8:12-13, refraining from sin 1 Cor 6:9-10, washing one's robes, Rev 22:14-all aimed at gaining eternal life.

Who's talking about the whole gospel? This is about salvation by faith, which is the entrance into Christianity, not the whole Christian life.

The whole Christian life is a journey involving, as Scripture attests: saved, at justification, being saved, as we continue to walk in and preserve and even increase that justice, meaning to work out our salvation with He who works in us with whatever time and grace we have, and will be saved, as a future event. The whole Christian life involves coming to know God, and by knowing Him coming to believe in, hope in, and love Him, along with our neighbor. Those virtues define justice or righteousness for man, and we must walk in that justice, that light-and then let the Just Judge give His perfect determination at the end of the day-on how well we did, with what we were given.

Faith is the entrance to salvation as it's the entrance to God, the only one who can justify and save us. Through faith He becomes the God of us, which itself is the right and just order of things for man. But it's the beginning, not the end, of a journey back to Him from the exile that Adam placed us in. The more we love Him with our whole heart, soul, mind, and strength, the more just or righteous we become, the more integrity we possess, the more that sin/evil is overcome and good chosen over it, and the nearer to our own purpose we attain.

All one and the same guaranteed salvation (1 Corinthians 1:22, 1 Corinthians 5:5; Ephesians 1:14).

Encouragement, hyperbole; none of that means some kind of definitive absolute assurance- especially in light of all the warnings and exhortations to believers to remain faithful, remain in Him, be holy, obey the commandments, put to death the deeds of the flesh, do good, persevere, invest one's talents, be vigilant, etc, etc, with eternal life at stake.

Maybe the word of God in your Bible is hyperbole, but not in mine.

One of the ways God preserves the saints is through warnings, which the saints heed and are preserved, while the tares do not, and are not.

Yes the Gospel of the Kingdom, Jesus' only gospel (not the one the church promotes) which promotes a way of life contrary to the ways of man.
We are agreed. . .he believed and thereby entered the kingdom.

Sorry, but if you haven't noticed the word of God uses many literary devices and different writing styles. And Scripture can be vague or seemingly ambiguous or even contradictory at times, which is why there are many differing and conflicting interpretations, often equally plausible enough.
