  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hey I'm digging this thread up! I love scrapbooking! Only started doing it about 8 months ago and I've been hooked ever since. Wish it could be a cheaper hobby but oh well. So where are the rest of the croppers out there? Here are some questions to get our discussion going:

  1. How do you scrap: Chronologically, by event, randomly? - Personally I am a very random person. I would never finish stuff if I tried to go in date order lol
  2. Do you have a scrap style?: - At this point I have a very simple, uncluttered style. Cardstock with coordinating paper, photo borders. Some brads and eyelets. Don't have the time or money to do the fab layouts in the magazines, yet
  3. What's your favorite scrapbooking item?: - For me it would be patterned paper and brads
  4. Do you prefer to scrap alone or at a crop?: - I'd like to do it with others but none of my friends are into it. So, alone

I'm looking at scrapbooking, but I'm kind of wondering how to put my first book together when I'm so not a memories or picture person. I just like coordinating patterns and things. Hmmm...
Scrapbook layouts don't have to have pictures! Most people just kinda assume that but HEY this is your project and it should be about what you want to express. I've seen some great layouts before where people just make themes of certain colors, and things that caught their eye (magazine clippings, leaves, etc) and based the pages around them with coordinating supplies :)

I like to scrapbook, but don't do it very often. I find that I enjoy it most when I work with other people, as I like sharing ideas and I like having a social time as we work on our pages.

I don't do it in any real order, more skipping around. I have chiefly been working on things we've done as a home schooling family.

I like to fit as many pictures on a page as possible with some room to write a bit what it's about. But I can imagine having some really special pictures that I might want to have just one or two on a page. Haven't done that yet, though.

I like coordinating paper that best, I've never used any of the embellishments.

I guess that's about it for now. Thanks for starting this thread.

Swaps? I need to learn about that.
Swaps/Crops/Scrap parties are just where a bunch of scrapbookers get together in one place to....take a guess... scrapbook! Usually for a couple of hours to a full day. They can range from having a couple of friends work at your house or the giant ones at conventions where you have hundreds of people sitting in a conference room crafting away. Some like them, some don't.

I love scrapping I have a special space just for doing it. I usually do cronologically, I also do special scrapbooks for each girl (I have three) They each have a cheerleading scrapbook, dance scrapebook and each year we make a homeschool scrapbook that resembles a yearbook. My husband says that if scrapbooking was a drug I'd be a junkie. I love going to scrap parties a friend of mine has a 24 hour croping party each year she rents a hall and charges a small fee people trade materials and use the different tools that she brings its so much fun its in April this year I can't wait.

Oh yes. They're tons of fun! It's great to enjoy your hobby with other people who like it as much as you do, get advice and tips, see cool ideas, etc. But like I said it all depends on your personality - some people just prefer to work alone! Everyone should go to at least one gettogether to try it out though.

That sounds really cool! How exactly does it all work in a 24 hour format??

The scrap party is open for 24 hours you can come and go as many times as you want each person gets a certian amount of space and there is a trade table that you can swap materials with. There are usually a few people who have things for sale to it's a great way to find things cheap. I just heard about a week end swap it will start on a Friday and go on until Sunday evening.
