IMO the Bible should not be worshiped as a false idol, and a "reality check" with respect to one's personal interpretation of various passages is warranted and useful.

In my opinion. I've seen nothing in the Scriptures to give license to the notion that we can pick and choose which potions of it we wish to believe and which we wish to reject. For all the self-indignant proclamations from those who reject even parts of the Bible which Jesus affirmed, not one person has ever produced chapter and verse to give support for ala carte' faithfulness.

Jesus didnt have access to the scientific evidence and reasoning that we do. He probably thought the myths were literal.

After His baptism, Jesus was revealed to be the Son of God. So the son of God fell for a myth despite actually being there for the events?
Everything in the Bible should be rejected because it doesn't conform with what you've chosen to believe?
How sad it must be to be a member of the Holy Trinity and yet not know as much as an internet poster who knows nothing of the Scriptures he is disparaging.

Christ could have been speaking in the custom of the people. Many ministers today talk about Adam and Eve, yet do not take the Genesis account literally. The story of Adam and Eve is rich in meanings other than presenting a scientific account of creation, which it does not do.
