So what?  SBFaithful is trying to assert that the Bible contains foreknowledge of the fact that the moon's light actually comes from the sun.  My response was that the verse in no way implies that without adding significantly to what it actually says.  The verses he cited are much more likely to be a reflection of the primitive understanding of astronomy.

I think you need to blow the dust off of your ancient history book and take a look at just how much they knew back then. Abraham was a Chaldean from the city of Ur. They knew a lot more about science than you seem to realize. Moses had the best education available in Egypt at the time.

''Well, one thing you will notice is that the bible only predicts things in hindsight.''
FOC:
I'd say try telling that to the Jews who got their country back after WWII.

The people who miss the rapture and step into the tribulation period are going to find out the Bible is a better predicter of the future than what they thought.

As far as the Earth being the center, your really argueing with the old church. An interesting article,

Um, theres nothing special about the bible making predictions and then them coming true In The Bible.
I have many fictional books that do the same thing.

Again, you are using hindsight to show the bible is right. Ironically this same mental technique is used by people who want to believe other predictions are true. They take the information, look back on history and find events and things that fit the information. Thats not special at all, it will only be special if you can make a scientific or future prediction using the bible *before* it happens, and it comes true.

The prophecy that the Bible has predicted is so accurate.
How many prophecies were fulfilled when Jesus was born in Bethlehem?
The list goes on and on and on...

Thats an Ironic statement John.

You do realize that the "end times" and "rapture doctrine" have been interpreted to incorrectly predict the date of the rapture, at least three times. It didnt come, on any of those times.
But im sure, this time is the right one? Right? :)

If people back then had so much scientific foreknowledge, how come we are more advanced than they are?? :D
Why did they travel on camels or on foot?? Why didn't they get an insight on how to build an airplane or
a car or something better than a car since they got their inspirations from God??
Why is it that we have more scientific information than they did, are we more inspired by God than they were?   :)

A continuation on Osiris's questions...
If they were given divine knowledge from god, how come there were people who were more advanced than them?
They were smart people, but being smart doesnt mean that they had god inspired knowledge, and it also doesnt mean that they were even the smartest group in the world at that time.

Another example of incorrect science in the bible:

The bible strongly implies that thinking and emotion occur in the heart, not the brain. Even today we metaphorically associate emotion (esp. love) with the heart. No where in the bible is thinking associated with the proper organ.. the brain.

"And he said unto them, why are ye troubled? And why do thoughts arose in your hearts." - Luke 11:9

"He hath blinded their eyes, and hardened their heart; that they should not see with their eyes, nor understand with their heart, and be converted, and I should heal them." - John 12:40
